15 Indian Groom Dresses Options for a Royal Look

Every big fat wedding focuses on the bride, and the groom is somewhat left behind. Yes, he is important, no doubt. But the wedding ceremonies and rituals all tend to be about the bride. In an era of equal rights, this is so not fair. Different bridal entry ideas turn the heads. But the groom still comes in a posh car or on horseback to wedding venues and it is just as expected. The bride wears some of the most unique and latest wedding dresses. The groom dress is often made in accordance with the bridal gown!

The wedding dresses for the groom must not be bought in a hurry, or without thinking of what the groom wants. Of course, there are way fewer options for men’s fashion compared to women’s fashion apparel options. But the few options that are there should be all juggled before the decision is being made.

Important factors

The wedding dresses for the groom should be selected well in time for juggling options. You could gain or lose weight; you might want to change your hairstyle. Whatever you do, keep in mind your wedding date. Even the most expensive groom dress for wedding purposes won’t work its magic if you did not take care of your entire appearance. Your shoes, hair, fitness level, and accessories, everything needs to complement the wedding attire in order for the groom wedding dress to work.

There are other factors apart from accessories and hair that you must not compromise on either. They are:

  • Comfort: Comfort comes first. If you are wearing what’s in vogue but aren’t feeling comfortable in it, you will end up ruining your look. If you are comfortable in the most bizarre groom dress or even the simplest, you will rock it.
  • Complementing the Bride’s attire: On the wedding day, the groom wedding dress should complement the latest bridal wedding dress Don’t go for something totally matching. That will look nothing short of ridiculous. Go for a subtle match. For example, wear a tie in the colour of the bridal attire. If you are wearing an eastern style wedding dress for the groom, match the borders or a part of the print of your outfit with the colour of the bride’s outfit.
  • A contrast from the Reception attire: The groom dress for a wedding should be different for the groom dress you wear on the day of the reception. Indian weddings have the reception two days after the wedding, typically. Make sure your groom dress fashion is totally different from these two days. You should get to flaunt two completely different looks on both these important days.
  • A Colour that Suits You: Make sure both the outfits are in a colour that suits you. Don’t go for just black or brown or white though. Don’t play too safe. Experiment with some colours at least on one of the two big days. Also, when you try to match your outfit with that of your bride, don’t go for the dominant colour on her attire. Go for a colour that will suit you, and is only slightly present on hers.
  • Proper Fitting: The bride and groom dress must be purchased well in time for the wedding. Either of them could need alterations according to the changed physique of the bride and groom. You need to try to ensure that the outfits you are going to fit you without alterations. That way they look the best. Please don’t put on or lose too much weight before the wedding.

Also, you must have enough time at hand to choose the best bridal dresses and the groom wedding dresses that match each other and are different from each other at the same time.

All the hard work

If there is one time in life when a man realizes that amount of time and hard work that goes into makeup and grooming for women, is their wedding days. This is what a woman goes through on all the important occasions that need getting ready. So now that you know how time-consuming getting all decked up for a special occasion can be, let’s hope you will be more patient with your bride. More importantly, let’s hope you have realized  you need to start the entire regime with a plan and begin well in time.

6. Nail Art

Okay, this could sound more like a job than fun. Getting a good manicure and wearing fabulous nail art is absolutely mandatory on a mehndi night. If your nails don’t look good, even the most intricate mehndi designs will not be good enough.

Since every girl needs to get their nails done for the wedding anyway, it will be fun to do it together. Help each other out, share nail art ideas. Get some cool fake nails and gather everybody’s nail paint collection. If you have even one or two creative people in the group, you all will get fabulous nails. Many people want to get tattoos done but are either too scared or do not get to get inked for real because of their families or their job profiles. So, a henna tattoo corner will be the perfect thing to arrange for your friends. You could live the non-invasive ink tattoos for at least a few weeks even if you don’t get to treat yourself to a permanent tattoo just yet. The bright side? No pain, lots of gains. Those of you who are planning to get a tattoo done but aren’t too sure how it’ll come out could use this night to try on a non-committal version of your tattoo.

8.Mehndi Contest

The professional mehndi artist will do the bridal mehndi. But if you are smart enough, you can call in favour while sealing the deal, and get a crash course for everybody. After that, you could volunteer to lend your palms and feet as a canvas for rookie friends.

Of course, the bride shouldn’t be the canvas. Her mehndi must be on point. But the others can go bonkers and push the limits of their creativity. So that people put their hearts into it, make it a contest where some of the best designers get some gifts.

9. Hair Care

Henna is more popularly known for its magical effect on the quality and texture of hair than for its use at a mehndi. Who does not want a good hair care regime right before the wedding? So, arrange for hair care mehndi packs for every guest at the henna party. You can leave the bride alone if her stylist does not like the idea.

10. Foot Massage

Everybody needs a soothing foot massage after days of running about arranging the wedding and related ceremonies like sangeet ceremony, mehendi, haldi and others. Some friends take a long flight just to get to the bride’s wedding. So, they all deserve a treat. Back massages and foot massages help people get rid of the pain of tiredness and the stress of a wedding. Make sure the bride herself gets enough attention during the foot massage episode. She is definitely the most stressed out one even if she does not let it on.

11. Finger Foods

Food is an indispensable element on any occasion. Good food must be served even after dinner because people are awake way past dinner time and they will get hungry. It is good to arrange for mini-snacks and finger foods so that the mehndi clad hands don’t find it too difficult to toss some of them in their mouths. Also, let there be enough functional straws for any beverages served. Even if it is just a cold can of cola or beer, provide straws. You don’t want to let the fresh mehndi run out. It is a bad omen, and even otherwise, just trouble!

12. All seasons Holi

To start the day in a bright colourful fun way, Holi is always a good option. Go for dry colours, or just flower petals. Play all you want. Skip the bhaang if there is alcohol for later. You don’t want people to fall sick. But play with the colours and flowers before getting ready for the mehndi. You will be happy after playing with colours. So you all will be ready to patiently sit for hours getting their hands and feet decked up in some colourful mehndi.

13. Doodles

Leave some henna cones for the children and others who are not going to apply any mehndi on their hands to look good. Leave some spares so that these people can go crazy, doodling on each other’s hands and feet, and maybe even some actual canvas. This will keep the children busy and add to the fun and creativity of the night. Make sure no kid paints anybody’s face though. That colour will not wash off anytime sooner than a week.

14. Gifts

Return gifts and favours are always sweet. These are gestures that prove to your friends that you value their time and are glad they came to your mehndi ceremony. Get little souvenirs for everybody. Either personalize them so that everybody gets something they like, or keep it even and give everybody identical gifts. You can add mehndi doodles on the wraps to signify the day. You can also add some fun into this by hiding away the gifts and play a game where everybody looks for these gifts. If they are personalized, put the intended receiver’s name on it, in mehndi of course.

15. Decoration

The food, drinks, games, and the actual mehndi ceremony have all been taken care of. What is left? The very important task of making the venue look good. If you want the venue to scream the ceremony, have plain cushions and colourful dupattas covered in henna patterns. Use a glossy paper base on the cushions so that the mehndi does not run out. If you are looking for hassle-free ideas, go for a lot of fabric in bright colours. Use every hue and drape the room in sequinned dupattas and curtains.

Incorporate these simple yet fun and bright henna night ideas for your mehndi party. Your mehndi night will surely be a success. You can also ask friends who have already had their own mehndi night already, for tips. It is always good to learn from other people’s mistakes and take inspiration from their days of perfection. So, go out there and ask around.

Leave the arrangements to family and friends or hired professionals. Hire a mehndi artist who is willing to stay on for tattoo art and more henna for friends. Hire a professional masseuse to let your hair down. You can also hire a nail art professional if you want perfection for everybody. The choice is yours. The mehndi artist is the only mandatory professional for your mehndi party though. Every other fun activity for the mehndi night, can be arranged among friends.

15 Interesting Ways To Plan A Perfect Budget Wedding In India

Planning your wedding in full flamboyance will definitely require a huge investment. With so much glamour and glitter around, you must be perfectly aware of the cost it would require to set up such an extravaganza.

While executing each and every step of your wedding, you will be highly astonished to realize how much of a simple flower arrangement would cost! And to execute a budget wedding you need to look closely over each and every facet of your wedding because an enchanting decor, beautiful wedding attire, an expert catering service, photographers, and gifts come with a hefty price tag.

For all the expectant brides and grooms who are closer to their BIG day, our step-by-step guide can help you out with an intelligent budget structure that can restore the grace of your ceremony and that too at an affordable cost.

1. Draft your Financial Situation in Detail

Finance is the bottom line for any party, ceremony or event. For organizing a successful event you should be backed up with convenient funds to arrange the wedding of your dreams. While you are discussing your budget details, rule out the contributor of your wedding whether it is going to be your parents or any other guardian.

If you are also a part contributor to your wedding, keep in mind that post-wedding expenses are also waiting for you. Thus, utilize your money efficiently and avoid spending it frivolously.

Compartmentalize each and every segment of your wedding and attach a prescribed budget to them whether you are considering your wedding attire or your mother’s, just segregate them and fix a particular cost.

2. Deciding over Venue

It is advisable to choose a venue closer to your homes, as it will save a lot of your cost in hiring rental cars or buses. Keep in mind to choose your location months before your wedding date.

As the vendors, resorts or banquet hall try to guzzle up more and more when a marriage season is on rage, it is prudent to select a location in advance. While looking for a location on a budget, just strike-off a destination wedding from your list.

3. Less Flowers

Flowers are the first choice of any décor but if we don’t waste too many flowers the budget can be managed properly. We all know the wedding can’t be beautiful without the flowers, so we are just saying to limit it. Don’t use unlimited flowers so that it gets wasted. Where it is necessary only there use the flowers otherwise just try to avoid it.

4. Make Off-Season Purchase

As we know that an item in demand always costs more in a popular season. Keeping this in mind, buy your wedding attire in an Off-season. What more, you might be lucky enough to get your dress at 50% discount! This is a great opportunity to buy your dresses from your desired brands who otherwise have a bigger price inscription on them.

Moreover, you have a large number of shopping outlets to make your purchase. It’s not just about the brick and mortar stores, you can make your purchase from online shopping portals as well. You can easily compare the price and get a suitable one.

5. Use your own Speakers

Be your own DJ, don’t hire any DJ. You can always ask your friend to become a DJ for you as it will save a lot of money. Make a playlist before your wedding day, ask the choices of your friends and family as well, and make an exciting list. Then ask one of your friends to play it. And rock your wedding on your own!

6. Take Expert Advice

When you are super confused about what to buy and what not, it would be best to hire a planner who knows the nooks and crannies of arranging such fancy occasions. A wedding planner is the one who is well aware of the cost, arrangements and can customize your need within his own itinerary.

This is a complete myth that hiring a wedding coordinator can disrupt your budget. But, in fact, a wedding planner can channelize your capital into useful resources so that your wedding is not devoid of any important piece. These planners have connections as well as knowledge to bring about the best out of your defined budget.

7. Cut Down on Décor

This is one of the parts of your wedding planning that takes a heavy toll on your budget. To have a grand ceremony or keeping things minimal, all depends on you. Having a budget wedding does not mean that you have to keep things simple. Showcase your creativity in undergoing your décor.

When the wedding is at hotel or banquet hall, you can save a lot on your decoration because the backdrop of a banquet hall is already gorgeous and alluring.

Thus, to keep the appeal to maximum, try out reserving Benefits of the Banquet Hall. Likewise, smaller details like table arrangements, table-top pieces, Mandap or pedestal decoration, and entrée decoration all can make a huge difference to your budget.

8. Create a Rational Guest List

When you are running tight on funds, keeping your guest list to the minimum is an intelligent step.

Do you really need to invite 500 guests or 100 guests who are at your foremost priority?

Try to bring out a list of those guests that are really essential for you to call. Obviously, this would include your cousins, relatives, and some really close friends.

9. Plan in Advance

Book your venue, caterers, photographers, and decorators in advance since a spontaneous wedding season booking can make a mess out of your budget. You are really going to take a hit when you are about to snag a party caterer at last minute.

Just remember that last minute preparations are a danger to your budget. Moreover, it is a possibility that all the native vendors are unavailable and you have to outsource them from another city. This would add the charge of their travel to your budget. Thus, making reservations in advance is helpful in minimizing your budget effectively.

10. Prioritize Your Things

Don’t make any random arrangements for your wedding planning list. Choose the things that are of utmost importance first and then go for the one with minimum importance. By prioritizing your task list you can compromise on one thing and can spend more on the other.

Cutting down on your cost is not at all shameful and doing it in an intelligent manner won’t make you a fool in front of your guests. A wedding planner can help you in this regard in planning out the wedding without investing over giddy things.

11. Go with the Season

Buying an off-season flower for your decorations could prove costly to you. Consider some material that is in course with the season. The same goes for your food. Having some off-season fruit or vegetable in your main course or dessert section could make a hefty sum.

If your pockets are deep enough, then having a lavish catering or décor is not a problem. But, under a tight budget, you need to think cleverly and make adjustments with the flowers or food present for that particular season.

12. Jewellery Shopping

Buying a gold, platinum or diamond ornament seems to be the most prudent task at hand. But, don’t forget that these are the costliest affair for any wedding. This is certainly the section where brides-to-be are going to spend the most. Be creative and bring out some individuality in your dressing style.

Though you are bound to buy some real gold or diamond pieces, you can even pair them up with some artificial stones or Kundan jewellery that are lower in cost. Avoid buying from any exclusive boutiques or jewellery outlet. Also, you may even try out your grandmother’s or mother’s jewellery if given the chance.

 13. Creative Invitations

These days it is not a ritual anymore to invite your friends or relatives through actual cards. And for the guests who are out of the station, you seriously cannot afford to visit their homes or speed post each and every card.

Well, it’s time to go digital this time. Create your invitation cards online and post them on your social media platforms or message or mail them personally for inviting them. This would save a lot of paper as well as your budget. There are some of the trending invitation modes and are certainly budget-friendly.

14. Create a wise catering list

Since, food is the most talked about topic at any wedding, cutting down your budget would be dangerous to your reputation. As you know that from an appetizer till the dessert, everything will be taken note of by your guests and it would prove unfortunate if your party caterer comes up with tasteless recipes.

Firstly, make sure that your caterer comes with loads of recommendations so that you feel a bit relaxed about the quality and taste of food. Sit with a banquet hall manager or catering manager to decide over the list of dishes you cannot avoid serving.

15. Plan Your Honeymoon

After all the wedding ideas, one of the most important parts is the Honeymoon. It is time to get to know your partner closely and bond along. Planning your honeymoon together will make you understand each other preference and taste.

But at the moment, a beautiful place which is favourable for both and make it special and beautiful. Small places or exclusive locations could be amazing when your partner is around.

With all the proposals and suggestions in your proximity, it is hoped that you have an idea as how to organize your wedding within a budget. Just make sure that nothing is amiss and everything is clearly defined in your finalized list of preparations. Keep your list flexible enough to add or remove the items that would be required at the time. Taking a consultant would surely prove beneficial for planning a ceremony of this scale.

So a bachelorette party is absolutely crucial to remind the bride to be, that she is her own person. Even if the bride is a pretty self-assured person, who wants to miss out on fun bachelorette ideas?

Focus on the fun

The good thing about a bachelorette party is that there is no competition with the bachelor party because both are supposed to be private. But a couple, who can give each other enough space after marriage, might as well have a combined party, which you can break up later to have the conventional individual parties. Just a thought. All options are open. You might love spending a crazy night partying with your boyfriend for the last time and he might want it too. The fun is, you don’t go home together. He goes with his boys; you go with your girls. That way, both tradition, and the attraction of missing your beau are intact.

You can also take inspiration from Celebrity wedding destinations to plan out the same. So, here are some bachelorette party ideas for you.

  • Do Fifty Shades of Grey-style Scavenger hunt!

It is sounding a little loud for Indian party but still nowadays girl’s love Fifty Shades of Grey plot, so you can think of this idea as it will be really fun hiding all the ‘sex toys’ like handcuffs and many more and you can split the team into groups. After this, you can instruct them to hunt it and the team who finds the maximum stuff they will be the winner.

  • Sexy invites

You can go bonkers. It is just among your friends. You can make the invitation cards shaped like whatever you want. It will be hilarious. But the connotation will be kinky. However, the message within should be warm. Every word right now will sound like a dirty pun but none intended. Keep it sexy. Keep it fun.

  • Hire a Photographer

You can hire a photographer so that your perfect photos of your party or photos after games will be clicked with a great camera. Flaunt your dress and make the most beautiful and amazing memories for the future. This day will never be back again and you should enjoy it with all your heart and be happy.

  • Lovely cake

The bachelorette cake should be all about the bride. What flavours she likes what colours she likes. Make it her favourite theme. And make sure the cake is delicious. No party is complete without cake.

Also, make sure you arrange enough refreshments for the entire wild hungry girl gang so that nobody is cranky.

  • Booze

Goes without saying, booze is so important. This could be one day when the girl who never drinks will drink in honour of her friend. Don’t try to play safe here, just for this day. You have booked the perfect place and everybody there is a friend. Just go nuts. Have all the shots you want. Wear your hair in a bun maybe. You could be the one with your head in the toilet or the one holding someone’s hair. But you cannot avoid the mess on this one day so just embrace it. If you are not a hard party girl, keep it low but do take a few shots and have fun.

  • Never have I ever

This classic drinking game never goes out of style. Just to keep it running smooth, ask your girls to come with a list of activities to mention that they never did before, or at least claim to. The lesser time wasted in thinking of things to say, the better. Make everybody drink more. And know everybody’s little secrets.

  • Know the bride

Get to know the bride better if you aren’t already closed. More so, if you are the closest. No person remains the same right before their wedding. Their life is about to change and so do they.

It is a good time to get to know what is bothering the bride. What she is excited about and what she fears. But as far as the game is concerned, keep it to less personal things and find out who knows her the best so far.

  • Bonfires

This will not be your regular bonfire. This will be a purging. A bachelorette party is the best place for a boyfriend bonfire. Of course, host it in the garden or on the terrace. Don’t get too drunk before you are done with this event. This is the gang version of “jalaa de saali ko”. Remember the peace one gets from burning away souvenirs and leftovers from past relationships, courtesy, Geet? Do it. At the party of the bride, all her friends should get to shed their past pains away not with tears, but with fun!

  • Dance

This is a must. With the booze, comes the dance. Don’t let a single person not dance. And don’t forget to record the funny and the sexy moves. You can focus on the bride and let her tease her newlywed husband with moves he missed out. What he wouldn’t do to see those moves again, just for himself.

  • Party Crashing

Now, this one can get a little tricky. But if you can pull it off right, the bride and groom will be a  favourite couple of the decade! This is about having a bachelor and bachelorette party on the same day and has the girls crash the boys’ party. The important thing here is, it should come with a notice.

You don’t want to be the nagging girls. You are the fun people on a fun night. Crash their party, make it hotter, and leave. Maybe they’ll return the favour. Of course, they will. It was already planned. Just make sure, this plan is executed only if the bride and groom are both cool enough and comfortable in their relationship. Otherwise, it could just be party pooping, the last thing you want.

  • Hangover Care

It is surprising how many people still do not think about this beforehand. Hangovers are inevitable and the big night is yet to come. So take care of yourselves and your darling bride to be. Have aspirin, lemonades, breakfast, and headache balms ready for the morning after. Nobody should have to pay a heavy price for a night of fun. So, don’t think too much while chugging the drinks. But do think beforehand.

  • All the love

Don’t forget to take enough pictures which are both, Instagram worthy, and frame worthy. This night will be missed. Make sure you have all the visual memory of it you could want when you are old.

All about the bride

Make the bachelorette party all about the bride. What bachelorette party ideas she would like, that is what you will arrange. The bachelorette party activities she always seemed to be interested in, will be the activities that take place. The guest lists, the food list, run everything by her. It is supposed to be a surprise if she wishes.

But at the same time, the bride should be able to trust her friends enough to know that they will get her what she wants. This one day is hers. She shouldn’t have to miss anybody she really wanted to share the evening with. She shouldn’t have to put up with anybody she doesn’t like or trust. So make the best party ever.

So, go through the guide and keep in mind about how you should proceed with your planning. Get the Do’s and Don’ts so that you can protect your child with all the harms and make this day memorable.

Do’s for the party!

  • Plan a Budget

But, having a budget at hand would help you in splitting up the segments. If you have picked up some 1st birthday party venue, you can easily discuss the budget requirements of the venue and the services within it.

  • Create a Special Guest List

After getting on with the selection of your first birthday venuesit’s time to come up with a guest list. Though you want to make it grand, a first birthday is celebrated best when celebrated with close relatives, neighbours, grandparents and friends. Release the invitations prior to 1 or 2 weeks in advance so that they can prepare their arrival.

  • Watch the Party Timing

Planning the party around the baby’s nap time is essential because a fussing and crying toddler would demand your complete attention and won’t let you socialize with the guests. So, let him have his afternoon sleep and schedule the timing afterwards. Moreover, in this lively atmosphere, the baby is likely to get tired. Thus, let him take some rest to be prepared for the evening.

  • Keep your menu “guest-neutral”

Remember, this is not some adult birthday party that you are used to. Kids and elders are going to be a part of it. Try to chalk out some ideas for birthday catering with the help of event planners that is acceptable to all the parties, like too much of sugary delights might not agree with your father. So, go with a combination of kids and adult food for both of them to enjoy the feast. Avoid some sticky or jelly-like food items. These might create a mess if not seen properly.

  • Try to have a Weekend Party

It might not be possible for each of your guests to be there for your Monday party. So, try to shift it for some weekend. This would be great for both you and your guests’ comfort. You get some extra time to prepare and also create the guest list with ease where people are not denying their invitations. Maybe shifting the party to some later date would be better if that gets to be a holiday.

  • Choose some Random Theme

The one-year-olds have a fickle mind. They might like Mickey Mouse at one while Spongebob at another second. The first birthday party places are adept at such decorations. They understand what a child demands and how he or she can enjoy without even understanding what’s going on around them.

  • Hire a Cleaning Agency

Most of the time these first birthday venues have a cleaning crew of their own. But, if yours is a house or garden party, then it would be better to hire a cleaning agency. The after party mess needs to be cleared up and to discard this headache, a cleaning crew is in order. You may gather up your leftover food and distribute them among the needy.

  • Photographic Moment

The first birthday has thousands of moment to capture right from the moment your baby girl or boy is getting ready. Thus, hire a birthday photographer or settle your own camera and start clicking pictures. In the end, it would be a nice collection to be cherished for a lifetime.

  • Birthday cake

The limelight of any birthday party is, of course, the cake. You need to give it some customization so that your baby likes it the most.

If you have planned some squashing fun moments with him/her, then arrange for another smaller cake and preserve the original one for your guests to enjoy.

Don’ts for the party!

  • Do not use any expensive cutlery or dinner set

The house or your venue is going to be chaos. So try to lessen your worry by using recyclable paper or plastic plates and you need not worry about broken dishes. Use plates, napkins that are easy enough to be handled in your party.

  • Do not use any flammable thing!

Never keep any flammable stuff at your party. All children are playful and naughty so anything can happen. So be sure to be careful enough, so that it could not lead to an accident. Always choose your product after reading the description and certain important things.

  • Do not overload!

This is really important as this is the party of your kid and if you will overload with the office work and at the same time plan the party, this will really not go well. So it’s better either finish your work and then plan the party or cancel your work for the time been and enjoy your kid’s party.

  • Do not forget the other parents!

Inviting the kid’s parents will give you company but make sure you have kept something for them too because it should not be boring for them. They can also enjoy the party with the kids. It’s great to enjoy the game with the kids and spend time with them.

Planning a kid’s birthday party involves a lot of thought process. Follow the above tips and tricks and you are sure to avoid any lingering birthday disaster that might spring upon you. And lastly, enjoy your day to your baby’s heart’s content.

Fun Wedding Reception Ideas

No matter how much pressure is there on you, say on your wedding day or that of a close one, you must remember to have fun because you too deserve to enjoy the day. You need some reception ideas that will be fun even you are planning out those and is entertaining of course, with the right banquet hall and wedding planners at your service. Here are some fun wedding reception ideas you would like to try out.

  1. Photo Booths

This idea isn’t new and unique but even today, not many wedding receptions have this. Photo booths are not just fun but also important because memories are precious.

Guests will be thankful that there is a good camera, photographer, and a beautiful backdrop ready for the memorable moments to be captured. No hassle of selfie sticks, or who will be the selfie guy, or which angles and all. Hire a professional photographer with a great camera to capture the buddies in one frame.

  1. Advice cards

This is probably the most passive-aggressive yet fun of all the reception ideas. Indians love to give advice to new brides and grooms.

Why not make a fun game out of it and ask the guests to put their advice on a card in a decorated box so that not only you don’t have to put up with the annoying advice, but also you get to make the guests think their opinions are welcome. Who knows? Some gem of advice too can pop up among them that makes you really want to keep it?

  1. DJ Request Boxes

Instead of shouting for your favourite song, you can have the guests and yourself write down all the requests in a box so that there is no commotion and the DJ to has time lining up the requests perfectly. DJ has been the most common form of wedding entertainment ideas.

  1. Karaoke and Budding Talent

How much fun is it to discover new things about old relatives in the event of a new journey for two dear ones? Just kidding. No good is going to come out of impromptu karaoke and Two Minutes to Fame at a wedding reception. But the fun you have watching and recording drunk or confident bathroom singers perform karaoke will be worth all the time.

Besides, no wedding reception is memorable without embarrassingly hilarious incidents to share even on the 20thanniversary.

  1. Dancing Shoes

We all have that relative who never dances or even smiles. But at a wedding reception, you will see new avatars unleash. The people, who you never saw dancing, will sway. Those who do dance will go crazy! But fractured ankles and broken brand new heels don’t count as hilarious wedding moments. They are just sad. So take care of your guests and let them have no excuse to not to dance. Heels? New boots? Hate to be barefoot? No, none of those excuses has any chance with comfortable flat shoes dedicated for the dance floor.

  1. Cocktail and Mocktail Carts

Need all the booze to make sure the funny moments come alive? And as far as the kids are concerned, they are always tripping anyway. Let them believe they are being served the same drinks as the adults.

A combined cocktail and mocktail cart will be convenient to fool the kids into believing that they are getting cocktails and the uptight adults into believing they are getting mocktails.

  1. Baby Nannies

Okay, the last idea was sheer fun but you need to take care of your guests so that your own wedding reception isn’t ruined by a series of inconveniences. One of the ways to help prevent trouble is to have a fun area for just kids, with dedicated nannies who could be dressed as clowns, or just regular people, or animals, whatever.

Put some jumping castles and lots of balloons. Keep some diapers and bottles, just a few. The kids will be busy playing and the parents will get to enjoy a few hours without consequences.

  1. Pet Watchers

This follows a similar idea. The thing is, you might not even have to pay the baby and pet watchers if you find them among the guests who are crazy about kids and pets! So, all you need to invest in is  food, bowls, and diapers.

  1. Magic shows

This shouldn’t be restricted to the kids’ corner. Everybody loves a good magic trick. Oh make sure, don’t keep it limited to sneaky card tricks and boring old rabbit boxes. Hire a magician who will be able to deliver at least a few simple but original tricks so that nobody forgets the wedding reception ever.

  1. Fireworks

If you arrange this, it will be the most awaited event of the evening. And don’t you make the mistake of not keeping a photographer handy when the fireworks begin. Take safety measures outright. But also have the bride and the groom take a position from where the photographs will look like something straight out of a Disney movie. Oh yes, you can have some lanterns too.

  1. Couple Quiz

Yes, that game where the bride and groom face away from each other and have to answer questions about their relationship or about the other individual. Indian guests might not be open to every type of question so go easy on the list. Make sure it is fun though. To add to the fun, don’t keep the game limited just to the bride and the groom. Make it a compatibility contest between various couples. See which couple knows about each other the best or agrees with each other the least. That will definitely be fun.

  1. Singles Games

Why should couples have all the fun? Take lucky draws from two different jars and pair up the singles. Yes, of course, you can cheat and try shipping two people you think will make a great couple. Wedding receptions are the best places to set the ball rolling for the next wedding! Parents of single people should take it easy though. Just a fun game after all. But singles, remember, this is more fun than dating sites.

  1. Hangover Treats

Spiking people’s drinks and making them dance and sing could be pushing it a little too far according to some. But most will be a good sport at a wedding reception. But just to avoid hurt feelings, take care of your guests. Send sweet hangover kits to their rooms the morning after. An aspirin for each guest, lemonade, and some lite breakfast. Nobody can remain mad at you after that.

  1. DIY Flower Stalls

DIY flower stalls are helpful for the guests who forgot flowers or couldn’t make it on time. Arrange a flower stall at the gate. Let your guests customize the bouquet. Nothing shows more care than this.

  1. Guestbook

While guests are leaving, turn the same flower stalls into cards and guestbook corners. Let the guests express their feelings in the fancy diaries you will keep forever. And maybe do not invite that crazy ex.

Fun wedding reception ideas always help ensure the day remain memorable. With a little bit of prior planning, you can incorporate most of these reception ideas at the minimum cost.

15 Pristine Bridal Haldi Dress Ideas

Haldi is not merely a fun ceremony for Indian brides. It is an important part of the ritual. Many positive omens are associated with the haldi ceremony and a bride should not ignore the importance of this event along with other events like sangeet ceremony, mehendi ceremony. And various ideas that can make your Haldi ceremony perfect, we generally ignore it. It’s important to be full of energy and look fresh throughout the ceremony.

Juggling Responsibilities

Not, only the dress but there are concerns from head to toe. The timing, the shagun, the few guests, and food, everything is important. Most of these things need last minute attention. So, keep the haldi function ideas sorted so that there is one less thing to worry about.

But if you have hired one for the wedding, you can call in a favour and have the professionals handle this part of the day as well. Either way, the haldi dress-up for the bride must be ready and on point. It has to be pretty, yet comfortable.

Practical Aspects to Keep in Mind

Before going to the ideas, it’s really interesting to go through some not so happening or exciting aspects, but it will be helpful!

  1. In some customs, the bridal haldi happens only after the groom’s haldi. This means the bride might have to do some waiting in case things are running late on the groom’s side. So the dress must be something that is not too difficult to carry. It should be manageable.
  2. A lot of turmeric paste and oil will be involved in the entire process. So the haldi outfit or makeup for a bride must be natural and easy that can easily get rid of stains or smudge. Talking about the dress there is a possibility that you will not wear this dress again. But why let something expensive gets ruined by stains you should’ve seen coming? Plain cotton are easy to get the stain off. However, you might want a fabric that is brighter, like silk. So, immediate remedies for stains must be handy.
  3. The haldi function attire should also be pretty and somewhat unique. A haldi ceremony typically involves some very monotonous rituals. So, if there are not many fun activities, there will be time to notice what people are wearing. And all eyes will definitely be on the bride. So the haldi look for bride must be impressive.
  4. However, don’t forget that the wedding and ideas for wedding reception need to be the ultimate stunners. So don’t go overboard with the haldi function ideas. It needs to be gorgeous but don’t make it difficult for yourself to make the wedding ideas stand out the most.
  5. Also, remember that the haldi ceremony is a daytime thing. So the makeup and hairdo of the bride should be minimalistic. Don’t overdo anything. Keep it simple.

It would be good to offer as much surface area possible for smearing turmeric paste on your skin. The more haldi you get, the more the radiance.

  • Go Full Conservative

If you are not much of a haldi person, go full on conservative. Layer up your lehenga so that no part of your skin is exposed and you still look charming due to the layers. Go for full sleeves with bands on it. So, your face practically remains the only spot anybody can smear haldi on. Remember to wash off right after the ceremony so that your skin doesn’t change colour in patches.

You could go for floral prints or even dashes of colours like in Holi but in a subtler way. You can wear this on a saree or on a lehenga, whatever you choose. It is a good idea to go for darker shades of prints on a lighter base of the saree. Let the blouse be a designer one with not too many embellishments, but sporting a complementary dark shade that is dominant in the prints.

  • Embroidery

You can go for embroidered haldi dress if you want to keep it comfortable and convenient, yet gorgeous. Think about colourful embroidery on a silver base, beautiful! Even though it is daytime, don’t worry about looking gaudy with this one. Embroidered outfits are always classy. Go for heavy embroidery in multiple colours. Keep your makeup light and hair in a fashionable braid.

  • Saree

You can never go wrong with a saree, draped even in the simplest way, when you are trying to look good during the daytime. Leave the lehenga or elaborate frills and layers for the wedding and reception evenings. For your haldi, go for the classic saree. You will look beautiful and elegant. Remember to not wear the pallu down. Pleat it up in small but numerous layers. Go for a sleeveless high-neck blouse with a low cut back. Maybe a halter neck. You will look trendy and elegant!

  • You can Go all Yellow as well

Yellow for your haldi ceremony? Cliché! But not if you do it right. Uphold the tradition of wearing yellow for your haldi. But make sure you are not all monochromatic. Wear a statement blouse. Maybe royal blue or purple! Have your eyeliner complement the colour of the blouse.

The borders of the yellow saree or the embroidery on the yellow lehenga or saree or any outfit you chose to wear, should have bright colours. This way you get to keep the yellow turmeric stains hidden in the yellow base of the saree but also wear gorgeous colours.

  • White, for a difference!

White is wonderful for daytime. No matter what you chose to wear, wear it in white if you’re in doubt. But you are not a fashion rookie either, not at your own haldi ceremony. Follow the same, colourful prints and embroidery trick to stand out. Avoid yellows among the colours so that the haldi itself stands out among all the colours. You will look beautiful, like the perfect bride-to-be.

Now you have the idea what are the things that can make your look at your Haldi ceremony perfect. Haldi function is one of the main ceremonies in the wedding thing. So make it the special one with your happiness and with your style and outfits!

  • Flowers in Hair

The options for what you can wear have been discussed. You might have something totally different in mind which is okay. But a daytime ceremony calls for minimalistic makeup and accessories but you still have to stand out somehow.

So, shift the attention to a colourful braid. If you have long thick hair, this is the time to flaunt it. If you have short hair, add some volume. Adorn your hair with little flowers. Be Rapunzel for a day.

  • Minimalistic Accessories

Again, because it is the daytime, keep the accessories to a minimum. Don’t even carry a handbag or small purse. Let someone else take care of your belongings. Assign the job of a personal assistant to someone close. You are the boss today. Wear accessories that you just can’t do without. Don’t go all bare, but keep it minimal. The accessories could catch the colour of the turmeric as well. So, if you are wearing a necklace, let it be a simple gold one. Same for bangles and avoid a Mangtika if you can. Leave it for the wedding.

So you know have a comprehensive list of suggestions regarding haldi dress for bride. You can dress yourself in any way you want, these are just tips. Your dress for haldi function should keep you comfortable and reflect your happiness, but not make it too difficult like competition for the actual wedding. Team up your haldi function dress with the recommended hairstyle and makeup advice and you will look gorgeous yet serenely simple for your haldi ceremony. Do indulge in some haldi smearing with your friends and relatives. Relax and enjoy a traditional Haldi in your beautiful haldi dress. All the best for your new life. May the colours of the haldi bring all the joy and positivity along your way.

There are a few rituals like khachang and Nanchang but there is no dictated way to perform them. The bride and groom get married at a monastery. Buddhist temples are licensed to legalise marriages. Include all the relatives, friends and family members so that everyone could enjoy the function and remember their own wedding functions. It’s time to explore new ideas for your sangeet ceremony and make it the best one! So, here are the  amazing yet fun filled sangeet ideas that you can try out on your sangeet ceremony:

So, here are the fun sangeet ideas that you can try out with everybody.

1. Cheering

Yes, you’ve got to cheer, everybody cheers. But you also got to keep the booing coming if you are in some kind of a battle. So don’t limit it to the verbal ‘wows’ and ‘boos’ because admit it, it all sounds the same and that is lame. So keep enough whistles of two types, the annoying type that kids run after, and the nice flute types. Use them according to whose side you are on. Of course, keep the verbal whistles coming! They are the best.

2. Flash mob

Do something nobody saw coming, and involve them in it. Do a flash mob starting with about 10 people in the beginning. Keep the steps simple so when you insist people to follow, they should be able to. Do the flash mob at the beginning of the entire dancing session so that it comes as a surprise. Start with a romantic music track and then move into a peppy one

3. Shoes

How come no sangeet ceremony ever keeps flat comfortable shoes! The floor might look clean but many people don’t like going barefoot. There could be tiny glass shards for whatever reason. And obviously, most women will be in heels and some men too. All the others will be worried about ruining their shoes, which truly translates into “I wore them because they are pretty but these shoes are killing me!” So, if you really want people to dance, give them shoes! Keep a stack of comfortable shoes with a good grip. No, you don’t need to carry a pair for everybody. Ask them to bring along a pair each and all you need to do is keep them carefully so that they can find theirs when in need

4. Easy Dance Steps

Start off the flash mob with easy steps and continue keeping it low for some time in the beginning before the real dancers start showing their colours. Let them go bonkers. Let them battle it out like it is the streets! But then for the last half an hour as one of the really Entertaining Ideas you can bring back the easy dance steps so that everybody can feel included from the beginning to the end whatever makes everybody happy.

5. Change of Clothes

If there can be a change of shoes, why not a change of clothes? It is difficult to dance in the embroidered lehengas and sherwanis. So, arrange for closets, in which guests can keep their costumes in. Let it be a true dance battle! Not everybody has to change out of their fancy clothes though, only the ones who will change into fancier ones fit for a real dance!

6. Qawaali

Bring in some classic culture without compromising on the fun. Qawwali is the best way to go. Use songs from Bollywood or anywhere. Keep a well-sorted track list so that you don’t even have to hire a DJ to play the mixes and individual tracks. Qawwali  will set the mood for some serious dancing and even be singing. It will give a class to the sangeet ceremony.

7. Video Shoots

Don’t forget to get a photographer dedicated to capturing every moment of the sangeet function. These dance moves, be it the rookie ones or the extreme dance battles, are never going to be recreated. Capture the colours, the twirls, the smiles, and of course, the falls, to keep forever. To get a good view of the entire banquet hall settings with all that energy in one frame, make sure the CCTV cameras in the banquet hall are of good quality and request a copy.

8. Dance Dumb Charades

Introduce some systematic games like this one I just made up. Well, as part of cheat dumb charades at least. Make two teams and have them recognize movies from the iconic dance moves associated with the movie. To make it more fun, go indirect. Forbid dance moves from the movie to be guessed. The only dance moves allowed will be from related movies, say the same actors, or directors, or song names that are the movie title. That will increase the dancing and the need for the guessing skills.

9. Awards

There has to be awards. Make them fun. ‘Dancing king/queen’, ‘drama king/queen’, ‘best rookie’, ‘coolest grandma/grandpa’, ‘coolest mom/dad’, ‘hottest couple’, ‘best energy’, ‘dumb charades person of the match’ could be some of the titles.

10. Late Night Snacks

Of course, there will be a scheduled dinner for everybody. But for the people who stay back to dance all night deserve a second round of snacks. Keep  something less oily so that people can keep dancing after a few bites. Let there be enough water and juice for people to hydrate themselves.

Needless to mention, the dinner itself must be healthy and appetizing so that people don’t feel too giddy to dance even after dinner.

11. Shots

Also, this includes some shots available through the night to help people get crazy and keep dancing. Here’s a secret, dilute the shots or cocktails. There will be no sick people. But surprisingly you will find people get drunk enough because shots are just an excuse to let loose and dance the night away. Some people will catch on of course, they are the drinking tanks so don’t you worry about them. Let them have raw shots and dance away. Everybody will be fine.

You could keep this whole thing a secret among the adults so that the kids do not throw a hissy fit for not getting what the grownups are getting. Better still, you could have identical mocktails for the kids and everybody is happy.

12. Competition

The next is having a competition among boys side girl’s side. This will be a real fun. Showing whose side is the best and enjoying the performances dedicated to each other. Then from the crowd comes the cheering of the parents and other relatives of the respective sides, this is amazing. Sangeet ceremony filled with shades of emotion, dance and competition and love.

13. Paper Dancing

Spark some romantic moment between the couple and the best surprise is that involve the senior couple as well. This will be so great to see the experienced couple and new couple having a dance together with their partners. This dance is the perfect idea to come close to your loved one. You must include this in your sangeet ceremony to make it more beautiful and to show your awesome chemistry.

14. Antakshri

This is one of the oldest game yet it never fades away. In the present day as well it is the most enjoyed game, as everyone can participate and you will be seeing the evergreen love of your parents and grandparents still alive. It will make your sangeet day the best ceremony ever and everyone will enjoy a lot.

15. Sunshine Treats

After all that dancing, people will be tired and want to sleep. Food and a comfortable room are mandatory. But your guests deserve more. Help them prevent that hangover from the shots and some backache from all the dancing. Send over herbal tea and aspirin and some pain relief spray in a beautiful kit to every room, with some breakfast of course. Trust me, this gesture will never be forgotten. This is the most heartwarming thing you can do for anybody. Don’t forget to treat yourself too.

The Most Important Thing

Lastly, don’t forget to include yourself. Make sure the bride and groom and their immediate families are having fun. All these sangeet ideas are fun but simple and convenient to pull off. There is nothing to worry. The hall decoration and the food are taken care of, everything will be fine. This  one night everybody should get to enjoy together. A good wedding planner or sangeet planner will make sure things go smoothly for you. They will take care of the food, the music, the equipment, and everything you have planned for. All you need to do is put your best foot forward. You have done everything from your side, now you deserve to enjoy.

Add your own sangeet ideas to these and have a fun night. These fun sangeet ceremony ideas don’t cost much. It is all about the ideas and execution. This list didn’t even include a DJ because that has become pretty common and is so expensive. But if you still want a DJ, you could never go wrong with it. It is your day. Do just what you want. Dance the night away!
