Portuguese Decor, Pool View, And A Burst Of Colours: This Apartment In Goa Is The Ideal Holiday Home

Planning a trip to Goa can have all sorts of reasons. But one of the main ones is to escape the drudgery of everyday life and the struggles of the big city. What better way is there to do this than to live in your own Goan home, with a pool just below the apartment, and in an area where you will never get stuck in traffic?

This apartment has been designed keeping the traditions of Goa in mind. There are pops of colour around the house, and the decor is predominantly Portuguese. And one has no choice except to let go off all tension and worries in a home that exudes relaxation in every corner.

LIE BACK, RELAX, DO NOTHING

You deserve to do nothing on a break from your hectic lifestyle. Enter the house and you’ll instantly feel the cool, airy vibe of a Portuguese home. The living room furniture is typically Portuguese and will draw you in for a Goan siesta in the middle of the day.

Standing out as a pop of colour in a simple background, the coffee table adds to the Portuguese vibe of the house.

“I wanted the house to look clean and simple with colour and typically Goan elements standing out in some areas,” Jannat, the designer of this apartment, says. “Everyone who visits Goa loves to experience everything about it which is why I wanted to put Goan furniture in the house. The fish-shaped teak sofa set in the living room is around 20-25 years old. We refurbished it and used it here to add a touch of old Goa.”

BRINGING GOA INTO YOUR HOME

Apart from the furniture and the walls, there are small elements around the house which will remind you of what Goa is all about. In the living room, you will see three frames on the wall and they’re as Goan as it gets.

“One of the frames has traditional Goan tiles,” Jannat explains. “The other two are by artist Mario Miranda who is a living legend around here. Both these frames not only add colour to the house, they are conversation starters and a way to discover art in Goa.”

DINING IN YOUR OWN GOAN CORNER

While it’s very much a part of the living room, the dining area has its own corner. The walls in this part of the house have a distinct colour which makes it look like a separate area without being closed off.

Like the living room furniture, the dining set too brings a part of old Goa into this apartment. “The dining chairs are typically Portuguese,” Jannat says. “They were bought locally and refurbished, and the dining table was made from scratch to match the chairs.”

A VIEW OF THE POOL

The living room balcony faces the pool and offers a view that you will really miss when you leave Goa. Take your morning coffee to the balcony and relish the serene view of the pool. If you’re tempted enough, go downstairs and jump into the pool in the morning to work up an appetite for breakfast.

THE SUNNY BEDROOMS

You won’t be deprived of the sun anywhere in this house. And the bedrooms light up because of the sun all day long. If you’re the kind who likes to wake up with the soothing rays of the sun on your face, this is the perfect house for you. But if you don’t like that, we also have blackout curtains which will keep the sun out until you’re ready to face the day.

The bedrooms are more colourful than the rest of the house. With brightly coloured accent walls and contrasting furniture, the rooms will instantly cheer up the dullest day.

“The high ceilings and the amount of glorious sun this house gets attracted me the most to this property,” Jannat says. “The house faces the swimming pool so you also get a really soothing view from the balcony.

Both bedrooms have their own balconies, which makes sure that all occupants get their own spacious corners if they want to spend some time alone.

ENJOY THE PEACE AND QUIET

Far from the madness of North Goa, Siolim has its own corners which are quaint and peaceful. Manila Bar & Restaurant is only 210 metres away from this complex, and Amancio, known for its authentic Goan food, is about 1.4 kilometres away.

One of the best beaches in Goa — Morjim — is about 20 minutes away by car. The serenity of this beach and the dreamy sunsets make the drive completely worth it. But if it’s a beautiful sunset you’re after, you have an option which is slightly closer. The picture-perfect Sunset Uddo Beach is about 12 minutes away by car. Vagator Beach, famous for hosting several events especially during the tourist season, is about 9 kilometres away so you’re not too far from all the action.

A Farmhouse With A Pool Surrounded By Hills: We Have The Perfect House For You to Chill

Living in Delhi, one doesn’t expect to find large green areas surrounded by hills. But that’s what this farmhouse in Mangar is all about. A massive garden which can host sports tournaments, a swimming pool with a gorgeous view, and an outdoor barbecue area make this 3BHK farmhouse the perfect place to escape when city life gets too much to handle.

You’ll be far, far away from any traffic and pesky neighbours but close enough to Delhi that you can just pick up your bags and reach here within 1-2 hours.

“The location of this place is one of the most appealing factors of this home,” Saumya, the designer of this farmhouse, says. “It’s close to the city but far enough to leave it all behind. The effort of getting there is so little and the reward is so big, given how beautiful the place is.”

This is the perfect place to plan a weekend away with your friends or with your family and have everyone under the same roof. The outdoor area is perfect for crazy parties, and the swimming pool offers the ideal lounging space to soothe your senses after a wild night.

“This place is perfect for all sorts of occasions and getaways,” Saumya says, describing the diversity of the farmhouse. “Load up your loved ones in a car, get some food and drinks, and head there to celebrate a birthday or anniversary.”

If you’re feeling adventurous and famished enough to eat a lot, set up a barbecue in the barbecue area outside. Grab your beverage of choice and enjoy a wonderful meal with your friends or family.

Even if you’re the quiet kind, and parties really aren’t your thing, this house will instantly appeal to you. Go upstairs, and you’ll find yourself on possibly the most picturesque terrace in Delhi NCR. Find a corner in the garden and settle down in one of the most scenic spots you can find, or park yourself by the pool and feel the rush of creativity flow over you with the soothing sounds of the water.

“Personally, I would use this space to get some quiet time alone,” Saumya says. “It’s perfect for a creative person like me. Think, write, read, walk around, and find your inspiration. If you’re a musician, the rooftop is the perfect place for a jamming session and a party after.”

Like a typical farmhouse, this house has several entrances which make it feel open and spacious at all times. Open up all the doors, enjoy the green view outside, and feel the fresh air breezing through the house all day.

Apart from the spaciousness, you’ll notice sudden bursts of colour in the most unexpected places. The hand-painted floral patterns on the walls outside and colourful decor inside the house stands out against the largely green and white background.

“The whole area here is green, no matter where you turn,” Saumya, the designer of this farmhouse, says. “While being surrounded by greenery is great, that also meant that there was no other colour, which made the home’s walls the perfect canvas to incorporate colour and the second layer to it was florals. The furnishing I chose is pastel and colourful to keep the theme going and give a contrast inside the home.”

“I chose the rustic floral patterns keeping the surroundings in mind,” Saumya explains. “The artist who painted it went free hand and complete it in 5 days. The fact that it was painted by hand meant that it would have imperfections, which is exactly how we wanted it to be. It made the walls look so much more charming.”

The artwork extends to the terrace and outdoor barbecue area as well, but here, artistry from the village was employed. Instead of taking the farmhouse away from its roots, we decided to integrate local traditions into the art here. We asked women from the village to lend us a helping hand and show us their art skills on the terrace walls.

“When you travel through the village, one of the first things you see is the artwork around the area. Every year, the women here do this activity in the village and areas around, and we thought of inviting them here,” Saumya says. “It was wonderful to see them at work. We didn’t give them any direction and told them to do what they like to see. I wanted to carry the feeling from the journey to the destination in a seamless manner, and the result was just beautiful.”

Apart from the open spaces, this house also has cozy nooks and corners for you to escape from the rest of the world and just be on your own.

“One of my favourite parts of the terrace is the nook under the stairs,” Saumya says. “It’s like a little world on its own. Warm, cozy, and the perfect place to be on your own. Another favourite spot of mine is the terrace for the gorgeous view during the day and to lie under the stars at night.”

This farmhouse is a 3BHK so there’s enough room for a large family or a group of friends. Carry your supplies, cook your own delicious meals in the kitchen, and enjoy them in the pristine white dining area or any other part of this scenic house. The rooms in this house too are cozy, cheerful, and welcoming. Each room has its own colour theme which may trigger a competition, so hurry and claim your room as soon as you reach.

One of the interesting facts about this house is that none of the furniture was made, it was all refurbished on site to suit the theme of the house.

“At OYO Home, we strongly believe in upcycling. Why create or make if you don’t need to?” Saumya explains. “The furniture was in perfectly good shape but the colour and upholstery did not work for us, so we changed that. But that’s it. We managed to economise and what came out looked great.”

Another feature of this unique house that you will notice is the artistic ceiling in the living room. While it looks easy and gives off a calming vibe, the work around it was anything but easy.

“It took the artist two days to finish the living room ceiling, and we had to simplify the artwork,” Saumya says. “But it came out looking really cool”

Mangar is located in Faridabad which is not too far from anywhere in Delhi NCR, especially if you’re looking for a quick getaway for a couple of days. It’s best to carry your own food and drinks supplies. While it may seem far away from the city, indulgence isn’t far. The Lalit Mangar is on the outskirts of the village, so you can drop in for a luxurious meal and head back to your mansion within 5 minutes.

Gurgaon, with some of the best bars and restaurants in the country, is about 1 hour away. One such concentration of eateries is Cyber Hub, about 15 kilometres away from here. You can spend an entire day hopping from one bar to another restaurant and back. There are several malls too in Gurgaon if you want to go shopping or just gallivanting.

Relive Your Childhood In A Riot Of Colours: Book This Unique 2BHK Apartment In Goa

Making a career, going to work every day, dealing with a difficult boss, doing taxes, dealing with all sorts of responsibilities, and trying to keep yourself healthy. That’s adulthood, and it’s hard. We know. That’s why our designers thought it imperative to design a home which will make you forget all your problems and bring out the child in you.

Cartoons, vibrant colours, quirky decor, and a gorgeous view of the pool – that’s what this 2BHK apartment in Goa is all about. And if you’re not a fan of the crowds of tourists that throng Goa, the location of this house — Siolim — is perfect for you.

WALK INTO A WORLD OF COLOUR

Don’t be surprised if you feel taken in by the colours of the house as soon as you step in. The stark contrasts and unconventional decor is not something you see in regular homes.

“We chose a mismatched theme because of the layout of the house,” Jannat, the designer of this home, says. “The bedroom door is right in front of the TV wall and there was no designated space for the dining table as such. So we moved the furniture around and settled on this theme to give it a quirky look.”

Every piece of furniture in this room has its own identity. Except for the chairs, nothing was a set to begin with. Our designers picked up individual pieces and made them work together to produce this really interesting result.

The coffee table is a reminder of all those lazy afternoons when the adults in the house would be napping and you, as a kid, would be out to find a treasure. All of us went on treasure hunts with our friends, and even if we didn’t find anything, the experience was worth treasuring.

The treasure chest will inspire you to go on more hunts and relive the most precious moments of your childhood. And there’s no better place to go on an exciting adventure than Goa.

But before heading out, open the treasure chest. You may find something inside.

“My favourite part of the house is the living area,” Jannat says. “I can imagine myself with my friends playing games from our childhood in this area since it has bean bags and light plastic chairs which can be shifted around as per your convenience.”

The splash of pink on the wall and the kind of furniture which every kid wants in their treehouse is bound to bring a smile to your face. The dining table, with its mismatched chairs and unique legs, brings the fantasy of tea parties with your favourite comic book characters back to life.

REMEMBER THE CARTOONS OF YOUR CHILDHOOD?

The quirk and colour extends into the bedrooms as well. But there are elements in the decor here which is unique to the bedrooms. The cartoons framed on the wall add to the fond memories of your childhood which got lost in the trials of adulthood.

It’s also a great way to engage children if you’re travelling with your kids. Tell them stories of your childhood and your memories of these classic cartoons.

“People don’t expect to see cartoons on the wall of a home,” Jannat says. “That’s also why this is such a fun element in the house. Not only will it engage the kids, the adults too will smile thinking of the impact these characters had on their lives. I know it made me happy every time I saw Tom and Jerry showing off their goofy smiles.”

SPACIOUS, OPEN, AND A VIEW OF THE POOL

Both bedrooms offer a view of the pool from their balconies. The rooms have been designed in a manner that makes them feel spacious and open on all sides.

The sunlight streams in through the balcony doors during the day, and if you leave the doors open, you can hear the soft splash of water in the pool if someone’s swimming.

Like the spirit of Goa, this room too is full of cheer and playfulness. The green wall and colourful cushions add to the vibrant decor, and the balcony makes for a wonderful spot to enjoy your morning coffee or tea.

Apart from the comfortable double beds which will make you want to nap every hour, both rooms have comfortable bean bags and open wardrobes for a casual, airy feel. Put your feet up, open a book, or just chat with your companions and feel at home.

BLUE LIKE THE WATERS OF GOA

This bedroom represents the fresh, blue waters that form the heart of Goa. From the bed to the rug and the bean bag, entering this room has the same calming effect as looking out into the expanse of the sea.

Remember how precious swing time in the playground was? Now, you won’t have to fight off other kids to get the swing all to yourself. There’s one in the balcony of your bedroom overlooking the pool. So if the swing in the living room is occupied by a kid who won’t let go (understandably), get to this one before it gets snatched up.

YOUR OWN LITTLE PARADISE IN GOA

“This house is my happy place,” Jannat says. “If someone, like me, doesn’t care much for the noise of the crowds in north Goa, this spot in Siolim is just perfect. It’s not too far from the buzz but it’s far enough to make you feel like you’re in your own little bubble in Goa. And the drive here is just gorgeous.”

When you’re on your way here, you’ll see some of the most beautiful, untouched spots of Goa. Driving along the river, you’ll cross a number of small villages which seem like a mirage in a place that attracts thousands of tourists every year.

While you’re here, you’ll have the chance to discover some local gems in Siolim. Manila Bar & Restaurant is only 210 metres away, so a good meal and drink is just a few steps away. Amancio, known for its authentic Goan food, is about 1.4 kilometres away.

One of the best beaches in Goa — Morjim — is about 20 minutes away by car. The serenity of this beach and the dreamy view of the sea make the drive completely worth it. Another beautiful place that you must visit is the Sunset Uddo Beach, about 12 minutes away by car, which offers the best view of a Goan sunset.

Come to Siolim and stay in this wonderfully happy home. You’ll soon want to call it your own home.

Rekindle The Romance: Get Away To This Cozy Apartment In Goa For The Perfect Holiday

Caught in the rat race of the city, we tend to ignore our relationships, especially the ones that are easiest to take for granted. The best way to make sure that life doesn’t come in the way of your relationship with the person you love is to just escape for a few days and leave all your worries behind in the city. And boy, do we have the perfect place for you to rekindle the romance in your life.

This 2BHK apartment in Siolim is perfect for those who want to enjoy the serenity of Goa, and not be surrounded by the noise of other tourists. Walking into this apartment, the first thing you will notice is the beautiful art on the walls. If you feel a sudden feeling of warmth and love towards your partner, don’t be surprised. This depiction of pure and simple love tends to do that.

“The illustration on the wall is by an unknown Japanese artist,” Jannat, the designer of this house, says. “I really wanted to incorporate this illustration in my design because that’s the kind of warm feeling I wanted in this house. The illustrations portray the warmth in a loving relationship so well that they just had to be showcased in a cozy house like this one.”

The cozy seating in the living room, perfect to cuddle on, and the gorgeous view of the pool from the balcony makes this space even more romantic.

Imagine cuddling up on the couch, watching your favourite movie or TV show together while sipping on wine, and snacking on delicious munchies. It’s perfect to relive the intimate times both of you have shared together.

Don’t miss the wonderful poetry framed on the wall for you. These beautiful quotes by Atticus framed on the wall may inspire you to add this charming feature to your own home.

“Atticus is someone I follow on Instagram,” Jannat says. “His poetry always makes you think of the deeper meaning behind his words. The quotes I chose follow the theme of the house and, hopefully, it’ll give our guests something to discuss.”

The dining area in this house is quite unique. The dining table is not your typical table-and-chairs setup. It’s more casual and almost recreates the experience of a picnic with its bench style seating. One of the joys of being in a loving relationship is cooking the food you both like together. And this dining room is the perfect place to enjoy a scrumptious meal made with love.

The dining room also has a bunk bed and study under it for those of you who just can’t escape from the rigours of everyday life. If you must work, even though we strongly advise against it, this spot is ideal for you to be comfortable and get in a few minutes of work while you can.

The bunk bed above the study was conceptualised to perform dual functions. It can be used as one more corner of the house where the two of you can get cozy and watch TV at the same time. It can also be used as an extra bed in case you’re sharing the house with more people. This space can also be a reading nook or a nap corner if you want a few minutes just for yourself.

Stepping out onto the living room balcony, you’ll notice the large, inviting swing that can just swallow you whole. It’s the kind of place you’ll never want to leave.

The view of the pool below makes this balcony even more tempting. Grab a glass of your favourite drink and settle down here for hours, just swinging away lightly and enjoying the sound of the water splashing in the pool.

If you’re a swimmer, we guarantee you won’t be able to resist the temptation of stepping into the pool and experiencing the serenity of Siolim while soaking in the relaxing waters.

Every area in this house has its own identity, and so do the bedrooms. You’ll see why as soon as you step in.

The walls of both bedrooms depict the same story of love as the living room. But the art on the wallpaper of both rooms is completely different. Even the hardest soul will crack a smile at this cuteness. The spacious rooms have comfortable double beds which will give you great views no matter which side you turn.

On one side, you will see the gorgeous view of the dense greenery from your balcony doors. This balcony is tempting enough to make you want to jump out of bed and feel the fresh breeze of Goa first thing in the morning. But if you continue to stay in bed and turn the other side, you will see the cute art on the wall which will instantly brighten your day with a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.

The second bedroom is perfect for those who like to wake up with a gorgeous view right in front of them. The green tops of the trees and the quaint Goan houses make for a spectacular view every single morning.

This room also continues the story of two people in love with an adorable depiction on the wall. The man giving the woman a piggyback ride while their pet cat balances on top of them is sheer happiness in a picture. Take a selfie with it or just a picture of this art, and frame it in your own home as a beautiful reminder of your romantic Goan holiday.

Unlike the first bedroom, this bedroom has a closed wardrobe with a sliding door and a large mirror on the door. Not only does this save space, it adds to the spacious feeling of the room.

If you’re a swimmer and can’t resist a pool when you see one, this place is perfect for you. Imagine waking up in the morning and jumping into the pool to work up an appetite for breakfast. That’s one of the best ways to start your day. Surrounded by peace and quiet, the pool in this apartment complex will relax you at any time of the day. Whether you want to jump in first thing in the morning, or after a long day of exploring Goa, the perfect pool will be waiting for you.

The drive to this house is absolutely spectacular, with a large part of it taking you right next to the river. On your way here, you will cross a number of small villages which will give you an insight into the simple Goan life.

Siolim has its own spots and corners if you’re looking for a hearty meal and a drink.

The picture perfect Sunset Uddo Beach is about 12 minutes away by car. Vagator Beach, famous for hosting several events especially during the tourist season, is about 9 kilometres away so you’re not too far from all the action.

A combination of serenity and romance, this house is perfect for those who want to spend quality time with each other and rediscover the time the moment they fell in love. Booking this OYO Home could be one of the best things you do for your relationship and for yourself. Don’t wait too long.

Nature, Music, Travel, And Outdoor Dining: A Perfect Blend of Goa In Two Gorgeous OYO Homes

Are you finally taking the step and going on that long-anticipated trip to Goa?

Are your plans to travel with your buddies to the ultimate party destination finally materialising?

If you just answered ‘yes’ to these questions, you need a place to stay. And since getting your friends together for a holiday to Goa is no easy task, the place needs to be perfect. Imagine having two houses –  both 2BHKs – all to yourself, with all the comforts that come with living in your own holiday home, and more.

Inspired by nature, music, and a love for travelling, these two OYO Homes come together to form the perfect blend for a Goan holiday. Allow us to take you on a tour.

GO RIGHT FROM THE STAIRS…

… and you will enter a vibrant house which is just waiting to be your home. This home is meant to be a place where you can lounge for hours, turn up the music and party till the morning, or fall asleep on the couch while watching a movie.

The living room, decorated in tones of blue, yellow, and brown, exudes cheer and happy vibes. The tile art on the wall, bright cushions, and bright blue furniture make the room come alive during all times of the day.

MODERN DECOR WITH A VINTAGE TOUCH

Because who wants to live in a boring house? The decor of this apartment was done keeping in mind the owner’s love for all things Portuguese and the need to blend that love with modern design.

“We added the vintage factor to this apartment by using Portuguese prints as framed decor on the living room wall,” Smriti, the designer of this house, says. “We also used a typically Portuguese pattern on the LCD panelling, thereby blending modern design with an authentic Portuguese colour scheme.”

Portuguese touches have been added subtly all over the house. “The reading chair in the balcony and the colourful knobs really add to the Portuguese feel of the apartment,” Smriti says.

The living room also has a bar in a corner which is perfect for house parties. Set up your choice of drink, settle down on the bar stools, take loads of pictures, and be the envy of your Instagram circle.

DO YOU LOVE NATURE?

Seeing the views from this house, it’s no wonder that Goans absolutely love their hometown. Even if you don’t set foot on the beach, the sights you get to see are spectacular. And in this house, everywhere you look, you will see a stunning example of Goa’s beautiful greenery.

In the living room, the double doors, framed by white curtains, open up to a spacious balcony where you can spend a few peaceful moments just taking it all in. And the swing in the balcony makes it all the more inviting.

THE BEAUTIFUL BEDROOMS

Moving on from the living room, the two bedrooms have been designed keeping the owner’s fondness for nature and travel in mind. While one of the bedrooms is everything a nature lover would want, the other bedroom is an inspiration for the explorer within you.

THE GRASS IS GREENER…

…on your side! If you choose to stay in the nature bedroom, you’ll become one of those optimistic people who see nothing wrong in the world. Waking up in a room so cheerful and bright will do that to you.

The colours in this room are predominantly green. The green view from both windows in the room and the hand-painted green leaf print add to the brightness of this room.

In this bedroom, the furniture is seamless. The open wardrobe extends to become the side tables for the bed, offering multiple areas for storage.

“Functionality has been a major part of the design,” Smriti says. “This reflects through the L-shaped unit in this bedroom. We did this to utilise the corners so that the room feels spacious and our guests get plenty of storage space.”

At night, this room can transform into a cozy corner which will lull you into a deep sleep. For a warm, ambient glow throughout the room, switch on the bulbs which hang artfully above the bed.

THESE BOOTS ARE MADE FOR WALKIN’…

…so let’s start explorin’. Yes, we know that’s not how the song goes, but this room is made for explorers. Everything from the wall art to the tin trunk in the corner screams ‘travel.’ The tin trunk was a result of upcycling material in this house, as were several other features of the house.

“Apart from the tin trunk which was used as a closed bookshelf in the reading area, we also mounted tyres on the wall and used them to add texture to the centre table in the living room to represent the joy of travel and road trips,” Smriti says.

Using locally sourced and natural material was an important part of designing this house. The bamboo chatai used in the LCD panelling and the rope partition in the bar area add a rustic charm to the design while the handmade wire birds in the living room bring a contemporary touch.

The balcony attached to the ‘travel’ bedroom has been closed off with windows. That’s because every house needs a cozy nook where one can just escape from everything else and go into their dream world. Whether it’s reading a gripping book or just contemplating life while admiring the view, this nook is perfect for a few minutes alone.

WHY EAT INSIDE…

…when you can enjoy your meals in the middle of nature? The outdoor dining area in the kitchen balcony is a unique concept which is fast becoming a favourite with anyone who stays in this house.

“My favourite space in this house is the outdoor dining area,” Smriti says. “It’s a completely unique experience and a concept like this really fits a chilled out, green place like Goa.”

With a stunning view of the trees and the perfect lighting to go with it, you might feel yourself falling in love with this beautiful work of art.

This was a tour of one house. As we mentioned earlier, there’s another beautifully designed  OYO Home just across the hall.

WALK ACROSS TO A WORLD OF MUSIC

As soon as you enter this house, you will feel the perfect symphony of music and nature. The backlit guitar on the living room wall and the cassette-shaped centre table will instantly soothe and inspire you. Because that’s what music does to the tired soul.

“Even though the house has a contemporary feel to it, the music-themed decor makes you want to bring out your collection of the olden hits,” Ashish, the designer of this abode, says. “The cassette table and the guitar are reminiscent of the 90s, and everyone knows some of the greatest music came from that era, especially for us millennials.”

The blue tones of the living room have a calming effect and the stunning view from the balcony accentuates that relaxed feeling. Plonk down on the couch, put on a movie, and just laze there. Or have a karaoke session in the true spirit of this house!

THE SPECTACULAR VIEW

If you ever leave the living room, step into this artfully decorated balcony and enjoy the gorgeous view of the trees in the foreground framed by the green hills of Goa.

“The living room balcony is one of my favourite spots in the house,” Ashish says. “When I needed a break during the day while working on this house, I would just step out here for a few minutes, take in the view, and it would instantly relax me.”

THE COZY, ARTISTIC BEDROOMS

These bedrooms are ideal for those who identify as lazy before any other personality trait. And you’ll see why instantly.

The side tables in this bedroom can be used as breakfast tables or laptop desks. It’s perfect for those who never want to get out of bed.

Another key feature of this room is the art on the wall. It’s nothing like you would’ve ever seen before. A wine bottle, fairy lights, and a cute little plant come together to become the centre of attention in this room.

“Since our main theme for both houses was nature, I decided to play around a bit with it in this room,” Ashish says. “Instead of just putting a plant in the room, I used an empty wine bottle and lights to really make the piece stand out.”

With an open wardrobe to neatly hang your clothes, and double doors opening out to a balcony, this room feels spacious and bright.

The balcony attached to this room comes with contemporary and comfortable seating. Get a book, plug in your headphones, put your feet up, and relax your soul.

The second bedroom is paradise for those who don’t like moving any muscles unnecessarily. The side tables on both sides of the bed can be wheeled around, so if you need to keep your cup of coffee in front of you for minimal effort, or if you want to eat breakfast in bed, just slide the table forward.

An open wardrobe and windows with a view of the lush greenery, this room feels cozy and welcoming without being closed in.

The view from this room is not the same as the first bedroom. It faces a thicket of trees which not only protects you from the harsh sun but also offers a beautiful sight for sore eyes. The balcony makes for a cozy reading corner, especially since there is a designated space for you to keep your books, drinks, and snacks – essentials for any holiday.

EMBRACING NATURE

One of the main features of both these houses was the use of natural material. From the ropes used as a partition between the rooms and the bar in the first house to ropes being used as lighting in this house, natural material was used in a rather creative manner.

“The rope lighting is one of my favourite features of this house,” Ashish says. “It looks really good and has a certain rustic charm to it. We used the rope lighting in the balcony and it makes the place look really warm and cozy in the evening.”

This house too has an outdoor dining space attached to the kitchen. The balcony outside the kitchen was converted into a dining room instead of leaving it unused.

“We really wanted our guests to feel this view,” Ashish says. “You don’t find a home with great views all around very easily. So an outdoor dining space was conceptualised to take advantage of this factor. It’s a great place to have breakfast, really take in the fresh morning air, and in the evening, this is the perfect setting for some memorable dinners.”

PARTY LIKE NEVER BEFORE

Apart from the unique design of these houses, this property also has other fantastic advantages. One of the most popular beaches of Goa – Calangute Beach – is about 4 kilometres away from this property. Another tourist hotspot – Baga Beach – is about 6 kilometres away.

If you’re in the mood to party and dine well, head to Fort Aguada Road which is about 4 kilometres away. This road is one long stretch of great restaurants and bars which can satisfy all cravings. To experience Goa’s nightlife, head to LPK Waterfront which is about 8 kilometres away from this property.

Live In A Heritage Portuguese Villa On Your Next Trip To Goa

Vacations aren’t meant to be boring, so why should you make boring choices when on holiday? And a vacation to a place like Goa should be one of your most interesting ones. Nothing about this town is boring or conventional. Goa is a phenomenon that must be experienced fully, and nothing says Goa better than a restored Portuguese villa a short walk away from the beach.

Given the serenity of the place, you would think it’s quite isolated, but this Portuguese villa is quite strategically located – far enough from the main road to drown out all sounds of traffic but close enough for you to be in the thick of things in a matter of minutes.

Look what I found! Why live in a hotel when you can live in a grand Portuguese villa? This is going to be so awesome! Click To Tweet

If you go left from this house, you will hit the main Calangute road, the hub for some of the best eateries in Goa. If you go right, and walk for a few minutes, you will be at the beach, ready to take in the sun with the sand in your toes and the calming sound of the waves.

That is, of course, if you ever leave this magnificent villa.

The house is truly a representation of old school Goa. Built in 1934, this grand structure has always been the epitome of Portuguese architecture. The house was built by the owner’s grandfather and had been the family home for decades.

As you step into the large front yard, you will see the Portuguese influence in this home becoming more and more obvious. The lounging chairs in the balcony, the coloured glass doors, and the bathroom outside is straight out of a typical Portuguese home. Before you even step inside, you will find yourself making plans to spend your days in the front yard, watching the world go by while sipping on a beer.

I know I would love to come here with my school and college friends, who are now in different cities and countries, and have an epic reunion.

The yard also has a bar which can be put to good use when planning a house party with your friends. The pathway is lined with green bottles to add to the greenery which surrounds this house.

In a typical Portuguese home, the living style is open and communal. It’s the same in this heritage villa. The bedrooms don’t have doors but the beds have been placed in such a manner that privacy is not completely lost.

“The home’s design was driven by the openness of the space,” our designer who worked on this house, Saumya, says. “At any point in time, eight people can stay comfortably here. Every room offers cross communication, I did not want to close the space. The beds face the porch so that people can enjoy the inside and outside space together.”

It’s the perfect set-up for friends who want to gossip all night while lying in bed and giggle till they fall asleep.

“The point of this home is to get people together in one space without being cramped and where everyone has their own corners,” Saumya says. “I know I would love to come here with my school and college friends, who are now in different cities and countries, and have an epic reunion.”

As soon as you enter the house, you will see bedrooms on both sides. On one side, you will see a small piece of history waiting for you. A heritage Portuguese double bed, which belonged to the owner of the house, has been restored in all its glory to be used again.

On the other side, you will get to experience contemporary design. Single beds with pull-outs were made for this room which makes it ideal for four people to share.

“The pull-out beds on wheels can be moved around the house for people to enjoy various parts of the house,” Saumya says. “Even the sofa set in the living room is modular in nature. It can be shifted around to suit a group’s needs.”

But no matter how far apart the two bedrooms may look in terms of design, there’s a noticeable commonality here in terms of the design origin. “Almost all old Portuguese homes in Goa have Portuguese furniture but I wanted this one to be different,” Saumya says. “I know I wanted the beds to have curtains like all Portuguese beds but I wanted straight line designs. I wanted to keep the design clean, fresh and simple.”

The curtains also have fairy lights on them which make for cozy lighting at night. You can fall asleep looking at these twinkling stars just above your bed and feel their warm glow all around.

Going past the bedrooms and stepping into the living room, you will feel the openness of this villa even more. The high ceilings, mirror decor on the wall, and the blue accents of the living room are a reminder of the Portuguese influence in Goa.

“The shades of blue were inspired by the fact that the beach is just a 5-minute walk away from this house,” Saumya says. “The blues of the beach and brown of the sand grains felt like an organic fit for this home.”

Apart from the colours of the beach, the decor of this house has been inspired by several elements that are quintessentially Goan in nature.

“The artwork in the home and the mirror work has been inspired by the home itself,” Saumya says. “As you walk into the home, you will see geometrical shapes and diamond patterns which were part of the home earlier as well. The umbrella lights on the ceiling are inspired by the fact that it rains like crazy in Goa and I wanted an element of that in the home.”

While it sounds easy to install umbrella lights on the ceiling, that wasn’t the case in this house.

“Getting the umbrella lights in place was a crazy experience,” Saumya recalls. “The electrician had to get on the roof because we couldn’t do this from the inside. The roofing had to be opened up for the lights to come into place.”

The villa, which is meant for eight people, has enough seating in the living room for all your friends to sprawl out. Whether it’s playing a board game, cards, watch a movie or TV show, or just gossipping to your heart’s content, this living room will become your favourite spot. For the more creatively-inclined, this is also a great place to get your thoughts together and find your inspiration. The colourful decor, the openness of windows, and lack of doors add to the breezy, light feeling of the living room.

The living room also has a working station where you can plug in your laptop and work if you must. But even here, the decor is so typical of a laidback holiday that it will prompt you to switch off your laptop and head to the beach.

Next to the living room is a private bedroom, for those who need a little more privacy or for the couples in your group. This is the only bedroom in the house with a door. With a blue double bed and matching drapes around it, this bedroom is perfect for a romantic night in. The fairy lights on the drapes are the ideal lighting for a few quiet moments together, away from the rest of the world. The side tables are lit by bulbs hanging down from the wall which adds to the quirky decor of the rest of the house.

In typical Portuguese homes, the bedrooms don’t have attached bathrooms and are in a separate area of the house. Staying true to the Portuguese style here as well, the bathrooms are in another area of the house, away from the bedrooms. This area has separate sections for bathing and the washroom, so that more than one person can use it at a time. Privacy is not a problem as these sections have doors.

As expected, such unconventional bathrooms are a design challenge.

“In all Portuguese homes, the bathrooms were always outside the home,” Saumya says. “In today’s time, people just break and bring them in. But, in our case, breaking was not an option. So we worked with what we had to make it as functional as possible. Unlike a traditional bath space, one person doesn’t block the whole bathroom for the rest of the occupants which works well in communal living.”

Staying true to the spirit of communal living, the dining area is inside the kitchen. This way, no one, including the chef of the day, is excluded from any conversations. The blue and white decor, and the slanting ceiling, make the kitchen feel airy and open even though it’s in the rear of the house.

The tall white table has stools around it to make for a unique dining experience, and the bistro-style dining will make you feel like you’re eating breakfast in Europe.

There is more than just the decor to this place. It lies in the heart of north Goa but the surroundings are so calm that you never hear the noise.

“There is a beautiful quietness to this house which is awe-inspiring,” Saumya says. “It’s so close to the beach and to the main road which should make for noisy living, but this house maintains a beautiful calm.”

If you ever want to leave this paradise, the Calangute beach is only a few minutes away. Spend a relaxing day sunbathing at the beach or avoid the afternoon sun and watch the beautiful Goan sunset in the evening.

The Fort Aguada road, which is buzzing with restaurants and pubs late into the night, is only 2 kilometres away. There are a number of great bars and restaurants here which cater to all tastes and fancies late into the night.

So gather your friends, book this villa, and clear your calendars for the best Goan holiday ever.

This Heritage Villa In Goa Is A Nature Lover’s Paradise

When in Goa, live as the Goans do. That’s the dream of every traveler, isn’t it? At this villa in Goa, you can live this dream to your heart’s content. This 2BHK villa tucked away in the greens of Candolim, is as Goan as they come. Adorned with heritage Portuguese furniture which belonged to the owner of the house, and hints of modernity, this villa truly stands out in the crowd.

While keeping the owner’s Portuguese furniture added a layer of charm to the house, it was also a struggle in terms of space planning and design which had to work around the existing furniture.

KEEPING IT LIGHT

The living room was re-designed to make it an area to relax and lounge around, rather than a formal sitting room. A vintage box, which was close to the owner’s heart, has been placed in a manner that it can be used as a bar or a snacks counter.

To give the house a light and casual vibe, the windows were painted to make them look like typical Goan windows. The abundance of doors and windows in the living area makes it a perfect place to enjoy a movie on the TV or play a couple of board games, while enjoying the fresh, cool breeze straight from the sea and the cozy sunlight.

VINTAGE BEDROOMS WITH A TOUCH OF FUN

The breezy feel of the house extends to the bedrooms as well. These rooms have been cleverly designed to use the vintage furniture without making the decor overbearing and formal.

Our designers also found a creative use for the overhead loft areas used as storage space. Instead of covering them up, our designers made these lofts into cozy little nooks where children can play, sleep, or read, and adults can also use it to escape into their own peaceful little bubbles.

A NATURE LOVER’S JOY

This house was made for a true nature lover. It’s surrounded by dense greenery and exotic plants which add to the beauty of this villa. The furnishing was also changed to reflect nature and the windows were painted with colours inspired by flowers from the owner’s garden.

Outside the house, the greenery will really call out to you. It’s also a great place for kids to play and run around, something that they rarely get to do in cities now.

Even if you don’t want to be too active on a holiday (which we totally get), sit outside and just take in the freshness of it all. That’s not something city folk get every day so relish it with a cool drink and a delicious snack on the side.

FUNCTIONAL DECOR

The decor around the house is not only pretty but it’s also functional and practical. The furniture has been placed in a way that would be most convenient for its occupants and the colours have been kept light to avoid feeling closed in even when the doors and windows are shut.

In the master bedroom, you will notice a small door-like structure next to the bed. That was fixed in that particular position to block a window which would allow the sun to fall on your face early in the morning. And who likes to be woken up early on a holiday, right? But if you are one of those who likes to wake up with the first rays of the sun, the tiny door can be opened to reveal the window.

THE BEST WAY TO ENJOY GOA

You’ll notice that this house also has rocking chairs in a couple of corners. That’s because Goa is the one place where you should be alone with your thoughts while the steady rhythm of a rocking chair lulls you into a nap.

Drag it outside to feel the fresh air in the morning. The balcony glows with the morning sun just enough to make it look very inviting to a tired soul. So use it in the day or in the evening to get cozy with a book, rocking chairs are never a bad idea for any time of the day.

With all its advantages, one would be willing to travel a longer distance to reach this wonderful haven. But you don’t even have to do that. One of the most popular beaches of Goa, Calangute beach, is only minutes away and so are some of the more popular restaurants.

This Private Goan Home With A Pool View Is Ideal For A Relaxed, Romantic Holiday

An apartment in the heart of Goa, but away from all the noise, is the perfect living situation. And an apartment that’s cozy, just the right size, and designed with functional aesthetics at its core, makes it better than perfect. As an added advantage, if you need one, the beach is not too far,  and the balcony with a pool view is a sweet little cherry on the cake.

This studio apartment is a holiday within a holiday. Goa is, of course, a fun lover’s paradise, and no one wants their holiday to be limited to the beach and clubs. If you stay here, not only do you have a fully functional home to come back to, you have a place that imbibes fun and relaxation.

A WORK OF ART

You’ll notice several unique design features in this house, including the illusion of a crane lifting a load and the lighting in the passageway. To get the maximum potential out of this apartment, our designer stayed here for a week processing the work to be done here.

Staying true to one of our core design principles of no breakage, the designer used whatever was in the house to give it a completely new look. Pinewood planks, which were in the house, were used on the cupboards and, instead of blending in, stood out as an unconventional design feature.

The pinewood was also used to refurbish the existing bed in the bedroom and give it a simple, minimalist look.

BRIGHT AND AIRY

This 1BHK apartment is not really big, so the design work had to incorporate features for a small space and make it feel airy.

Even though most of the existing furniture was used, one of the few things that was done away with was a sofa-cum-bed in the front balcony area. Instead of using that, the balcony was made into a cozy reading corner.

The swing is ideal for a couple to catch a few special moments alone together, or for a solo traveller to spend some peaceful time with themselves. Gazing out into the dense greenery that surrounds this complex, this is the perfect spot for anyone who wants to just relax or get creative. Read, write, draw, drink, or just take a nap. This space works for all kinds of travellers.

STAY IN STYLE

Coming into the house from the balcony, take in the openness of the house. Even though it’s a studio apartment, the house will not feel small to you. The mirror work on the living room wall makes sure of that. Since it has been designed as a city skyline, the living room feels lively and part of the nightlife of a bustling city.

The light above the mirror work has been positioned in a manner that it looks like the moon when switched on at night. The modern aesthetics in the living room and kitchen make this area the perfect place to cook a comforting meal, cozy up under a light blanket, and enjoy a movie together.

PERFECT FOR LONG STAYS

The kitchen is as functional and cheerful as they come. In the designer’s own words, “I’ve made many breakfasts there while contemplating the design and just taking in the happy vibe of this house.” There’s nothing more romantic than waking up together and cooking a delicious breakfast together. And this kitchen is the best place to do it.

There is also a washing machine in the kitchen which makes this house perfect for long stays. It is literally your home away from home.

DESIGN INSPIRATION FROM EVERYWHERE

Apart from organic designs, the inspiration for the design of this house also came from the owner. You will notice the painting of a crane which seems to be lifting a heavy wooden box. You’ll never guess it but that’s where the inverter is. This part of the design was done to depict the owner’s long career in construction. Since he is also a marathon runner, the owner gave us his medals which were framed and put up on the wall.

Walking into the bedroom, look up at the ceiling. We won’t blame you for being confused. What you will be looking at is ambient lighting to light up the passageway, so that if the lights are off in the bedroom and in the living room, you won’t be left in the dark if you’re between the two. The lighting is also used to add a feeling of airiness even in this small space. It won’t feel cramped or claustrophobic at any time.

This unconventional design element has also been inspired by the owner’s construction background and looks like a sieve used to sift through sand at building sites.

ADDING A DASH OF GOA

What’s a house in Goa without a dash of the local flavour? But, instead of putting Goan elements in the furniture and furnishing, we put postcards by local artist Mario Miranda on the bedroom wall. As soon as you get out of bed in the morning, you will be greeted by this unique artwork which will probably inspire you to buy some of Mario Miranda’s work for your own home.

A ROOM WITH A STUNNING VIEW

Throw the doors open in the morning and feel the fresh, clean air. The scene from the bedroom balcony is one that will stay with you forever – a gorgeous view of the pool from your personal breakfast bar. Enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning, a drink in the evening, and just take in the view of the pool surrounded by greenery.

This chic studio apartment is perfect for those who want their own comfort of peace and quiet while staying in the heart of Goa. The serenity of this place will make you forget that you’re only 10 minutes away from the most popular clubs and restaurants of Goa.

A cozy little paradise for couples, this apartment will be difficult to leave. This will be your holiday home, without any intrusion or noise. Our customers say that this is one of the best properties they’ve stayed in, mainly for the happiness and positivity it made them feel.

Stay here, leave all your worries behind, and enjoy your stylish home away from home in Goa.
