The prisoners were kept in the dark dungeons of this infamous gaol. They were beaten and tortured inside the prison. Many of these prisoners could not survive the torture and they died. When India got independence on 15th August 1947, all the inmates were freed by the government of India. Andaman was declared a Union Territory in 1950. There is a volcano in the Barren Island of the Andamans. The volcanic lava is erupted in this island from time to time. There are hundreds of islands still not explored. There is one particular island here where there are aborigines who don’t welcome visitors and whoever dares visit there is killed by these people. There is one Limestone cave here.
