Weddings are exciting and a big event in one’s life. But they are very hectic and stressful. Especially in today’s generation, where families mostly have single children with no siblings to help out, and corporate life hardly allows the time to even take care of one’s own health. In such a scenario, arranging and pulling off a wedding successfully becomes the job of a superhuman. We frantically keep searching for things like wedding halls in Mumbai with price, and best caterers in town, hoping to find a team of professionals that would understand the importance of perfection at a wedding and take responsibility to be there throughout the process.

Detecting the Wrong Choices

A wedding is once in a lifetime event. We do not want to do anything wrong because there are no second chances. Unless, of course, you are Ross from the sitcom FRIENDS, then you have at least three chances to say the right name and get everything right. Otherwise, this one wedding coming up is your only chance. You need to get everything right, the bridal wear, the dupatta fabric for the flower Chaadar for the bride, the food menu, the decorations… the list is endless.

Do not worry. Stressing over things never helped. What you need is the right person for the job. In order to get to the right people, you need to know how to detect the wrong people and reject them until you reach your right team. So, here are some parameters to determine if the people you are talking to, at the moment are to be avoided:

  • Crazy high prices: If you happen to have an idea about the prices of wedding halls with arrangements, you will know if a particular company is quoting too high. You deserve the best service but at a reasonable price. Just like you cannot afford to be a miser about this important event, the professional wedding planners and wedding hall management too, need to be reasonable about their quote.
  • Poor behaviour: This is a no-brainer. The moment you see the unprofessional behaviour, you should want out. This can come in any form, rudeness or impatience when asked a series of questions, or hang up the phone on you, or not listen to you. The moment you see you are not comfortable talking to a person, you should know you wouldn’t be comfortable trusting them for one of the most important days of your life.
  • Insincere attitude: Mere politeness and professional behaviour don’t vouch for a good choice either. Not showing interest in price negotiations, avoiding sharing the details of their workings, not showing up for meetings, all these are signs of insincerity. If you see these signs even after you have hired a team, it is not too late to cancel on them and ask for a refund of whatever advance you have made.
  • Low track record: When you run a background check on the professionals you are going to hire for your wedding, you should come across real reviews, manually hunted down, so that you can get the real information behind the performance of the team. No matter what the reviews on their website say, you need real people to vouch for them. If you find no real person who has ever taken their service or been satisfied with it, it is time to check this name off the list.
  • Poor website: Every banquet hall and wedding planner has an online presence nowadays. There could be a lot of flowery reviews and ‘About us’ page information. But you need to go to the interface and format of the website and the load speed. If these are not up to the mark, you should not trust them with something real. If they cannot manage their own website, they probably cannot pull off someone else’s wedding.
  • Your gut feeling: Despite everything, even if you cannot put your finger on what is wrong, and feel like you cannot trust these people anyway, it is your gut feeling, or your subconscious experience talking. Always listen to it.

Once you have side-lined these people, you will be left with options where people offer you competitive pricing or at least reasonable charges, along with the freedom to choose what you want and demand what you must have.

The Littlest of Things

Once you have got the major things like budget, wedding hall, and wedding planners and caterers sorted, you can focus on the little things like flower Chaadars, dupatta material, couple entry styles. There are too many little things which are all important. So that you do not forget what they are, list them down in chronological order of the proceedings of a wedding.

Dupatta Use at a Wedding

Talking about little things, let us help you out with some dupatta tricks for a wedding. This little piece of fabric can work wonders in large numbers and with the right colour combinations at a wedding. Here are some of the uses of the dupatta fabric at a wedding.

  • Wall Cover

Covering the walls of a big wedding hall with flowers gets too expensive and even tacky because they are eventually going to wither away and start falling apart. Covering the walls with bright colours of dupattas and sticking some contrasting colours of balloons on them is both, bright and cheap.

  • Flower Chaadar

The bride walks under a flower chaadar to enter the mandap is a crucial part of a wedding. Usually, the dupatta used for the bridal flower chaadar is a family heirloom. If not, you get to choose from all the colours and types of dupattas to match or contrast your wedding outfit. Use tassels, sequins, zari work, or colourful lace borders in addition to the flowers in the chaadar to make it look as gorgeous as the bride herself.

  • Tablecloth

The plain white tablecloths look boring. Adding contrasting colours of the dupatta fabric at regular intervals between plates is a good idea to brighten up the dinner table. You can use the fabric for the other tables too.

  • Wedding Garment

When dupatta is being used for so many things that it wasn’t originally thought to be useful for, you must make sure that you give it a fresh twist for the original function too. Wear a kurti with Patiala pants and tie the dupatta around your neck like a scarf to make a statement. Wear it as a headband while entering the wedding hall with the bride or groom to throw some sass into the evening. The functions of a dupatta and the ways you can wear them in are innumerable!

  • Sun scarf

Wear a dupatta as a scarf to protect your face from the sun rays at a daytime wedding, but wear it in style. You can also tie it just around your face to cover your nose from the pollution while travelling. This will protect your makeup. The bride’s dupatta material has to be comfortable and cool so that she can beat the heat despite wearing multiple layers.

  • Mandap Decoration

Dupattas are used to brighten up a mandap. Do not go for too many colours for the same place, it looks tacky. Either go for fiery bright shades like red, pink, orange, and yellow. Or you could go for the cooler shades like sea green, turquoise, blue, brown, and violet.

  • Lights

The lighting at a wedding has to be on point. The fairy lights on the outer walls of the wedding hall must be bright and all functional. The lights on the plants inside should be of complementary colour combinations. But there are white lights that look bland. Cover these ones up for a distance with dupattas to reflect their bright shades through the strong white lights. The dupatta can work as a very good lampshade; only, it needs to maintain a fair distance from the source of light. They will cost you way lesser than actual lampshades.

  • Token Napkins

You can provide every guest with a token napkin made from the best quality dupatta fabric, at the dinner table. If the napkin is so delicately made, the food must be amazing. Set the bar high for yourself and enjoy the compliments you will receive for weeks after. When you get back to browsing wedding halls in Mumbai with price or wedding planners in Bangalore, make sure you do not forget to mention the little things to make it a perfect wedding.
