Top 5 Tourist Attractions in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK)

1. Jazirat Al Hamra:

Located 20Kms south of (RAK), this abandoned and lost in time fishing village should be on the top of your sightseeing list! Jazirat al-Hamra with its traditional coral-block architecture captures the simple local life before oils was discovered in UAE when locals made a living from pearl diving and fishing. The villagers left in 1960s and the desert climate preserved the buildings.

2. RAK National Museum:

Just off Al-Hisn Road, the RAK National Museum is actually the fort housing of the ruling family until the 1960s. It is rich in historical artifacts and the Qawasim Room is exceedingly significant as it houses documents, manuscripts, and treaties between the rulers of Ras Al-Khaimah and Great Britain. This is in addition to weapons and archaeological displays about early settlers in the area up to the late Islamic period.

3. Khat Springs:

For relaxation and a connection with nature the Khatt Springs, 26 km southeast of RAK, is a true desert getaway! It’s an area of mineral-rich hot pools, where the water is known for its therapeutic virtues! It’s on an oasis backed by mountains and surrounded by palm trees. Not only can you wash your troubles away there but the area around the hot springs is home to over 170archaeological sites including prehistoric tombs and 19th-century mud-brick fortified towers that highlight how it has been continuously popular over time.

4. Jebel Jais:

About 55kms northeast of RAK and a Part of the Hajar Mountain Range, Jebel Jais is the UAE’s tallest mountain (1,934 m). A road will take you to the top up to the mountain’s flank and it has viewing platforms along the route that will allow you to capture unique photos of the beautiful views. Rumour has it that a resort will soon be built at the very top of the mountain too! For now, its home to the world’s longest zipline! You can travel at speeds of up to 120kph to 150kph at a height of 1,680 m above sea level on top of Jebel Jais Mountain! This is the activity for you if you are into a major adrenaline rush!

5. Ras Al Khaimah Beach:

If all you want to do is just laze around in the sun, the RAK shoreline on the corniche road is packed with luxury resorts that will mostly allow non-guests to use their facilities with a day pass. The beach white and golden sand beaches are well taken care of and maintained with excellent facilities including sun loungers, sun shades, cafes, freshwater showers, and everything you and your family might think of as you spend a fun and relaxed day in the great outdoors soaking up the salty sea air and the warm sun.
