Gwalior is located in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The local lore suggests the story of Gwalior sage Suraj Sen, a local prince, who got lost in the forest. On a secluded hill, he met an old man, the sage Gwalipa who he requested some drinking water from. He was then led to a river whose waters not only quenched his thirst but also healed him of leprosy.
