I stayed at Hotel Acme for seven nights in January, 2025. I paid for the first night, and then for the remaining six on the night before I left. They accept only cash; Rs a night for a ensuite with two single beds--plenty of space for myself alone. There was only one maintenance issue--the shower drain was slow. There was only one structural issue--there were many light/power switches, and they were confusing. Everything else was sound. Everything was clean, in good order, and new or in good shape. The staff is friendly and efficient. Anytime I had a problem or need, they would attend to it immediately at the front desk, or send someone immediately to the room--always cheerful and determined to solve a problem or help with any need. They called a taxi and two motorcycle rides for me, quickly, and without getting a cut (!) The free breakfast was slow in coming sometimes, but it was good and there was lots of it. Elevator--quick. Room key--old-style, but adequate. TV--OK, and in 300 languages. Noisy surroundings--of course, its Kolkata! Good location, with ATMs, vendors, restaurants, within walking distance. There are a few attractions in every direction within 3-400 meters, more within 2 kilometers, and many more within 3-5. While Acme Hotel is not in the heart of the posh Park Street action, that is not a bad thing. That said, while I repeatedly enjoyed long walks to the Indian Museum, the Hooghly, and various markets, etc., they could be tiring and trying. I have nothing bad to say about Acme, came on it by chance, and am very glad that I did!
We stayed here for 2 days and the staff is super polite and extremely helpful. The rooms are clean and the bus stop is right in front of the hotel so every place is pretty convenient to reach by public transport. The owners are super amazing. So much soo that we were running late for our Train they initially helped finding a cab but since we couldn’t find any they offered to drop us while they were on their way to their home.
