Cave temples- Perak Tong

The cave temples here are simply amazing, making it one of the most sought after attractions. There are more than 30 cave temples in and around Ipoh, though Perak Tong is one of the most celebrated and most visited by the locals and visitors. Chinese Buddhists found the cavernous to be the most tranquil place. These temples are quietly tucked inside the limestone cliffs, making the spot a serene one. The stalagmites and stalactites are decorated with religious decoration and have beautiful bronze statues.

Tempurung cave for an adventure

Head here for an adrenaline-pumping adventure. This cave is one of the most extensive cave networks that sprawls through 4.5 kilometres. You can either pick a dry tour or a wet tour to explore through the cavern stretch for an exotic experience. The wet tour offers a river rafting experience through the narrow gaps and slides in the internal obstacle course.

Eerie Kellie’s Castle - Built by William Kellie Smith, this magnificent castle takes you to Scotland. Tucked atop a hill near Batu Gajah, the architecture of the house was inspired by the Scottish construction. Though from the outside it looks lush green with Victorian gardens with beautiful roses, from the inside it is mysterious and is believed to have hidden rooms, passages and underground tunnels. Some also believe it is haunted. The construction of the castle was left incomplete due to the demise of William Kellie Smith. The interiors give you a hint of the 17th century as the ceilings and the furnishings are class-apart and royal.

Geological Museum- Apart from caverns, temples, and amusement parks, Ipoh also offers a treat of extraordinary Geology. Established in 1957, the Geological Museum is an example of the same. The museum is known to exhibit over 150 gravel specimens and over 200 gemstones. You would find 7 zones inside the museum that narrate the history and earth science of the country. Other things that would encounter include displays of dinosaur fossils, crystalline, and a variety of minerals.

The River Kinat and Ipoh’s secret street art Mural’s Art lane is one of the mind-satiating alleys located on the River Kinta. The colorful Murals are quite nicely done and speak about the local life, culture and customs. It’s an experience to be witnessed once for sure. Some of the arts narrate the city’s history and past visa scenes.

Ipoh Railway Station It’s not an ordinary appearing railway station, it’s an architectural masterpiece with a hint of Victorian construction. The entrance has beautifully designed pillars and broad arches, and deep history makes it one of the destinations to pay a visit at.

Birch Memorial Clock Tower The tower was Built-in 1909 in the memory of James Birch who was the first British resident of Perak. This beautiful building that hints of a colonial world features Moses, Buddha, Shakespeare, and Charles Darwin sculptures.

KeK Lok Tong Cave Temple As the city is not short of attractive cave temples, this one is another cavern that needs a visit for sure. Century-old worship, elegant interiors that is quietly tucked in a serene background inside a 12 acres cavern. You would find elegant buddhist and Chinese pantheon deities.
