(Translated by Google) The wooden floors and tiles were spotless, and the bathroom was impeccably clean. In the evenings, I sat on the semi-open balcony, soaking in the tranquility of Kuching. Occasionally, I'd see travelers reading, using computers, or cooking, accompanied by the owner's two cats – a truly peaceful and comfortable experience. A room costs approximately NT$603 per night including the tourism tax. If you have travel companions, it's about NT$302 per person, roughly US$10, which fits within a typical accommodation budget. Eight-person backpacker rooms are also available. The neighborhood is conveniently located. Downstairs is Cai Shuang Shun Tea House (their Laksa is also quite good), and a short walk away is a popular local shop selling kueh and tofu pudding, as well as a coffee and tea house converted from a hardware store. The day before I left, it rained heavily – a real downpour. After dinner, I returned to my accommodation to find my clothes drying under the eaves of the balcony gone! It turned out they had been rescued before getting soaked by the rain, carefully folded and placed in a basket outside my room. I'm truly grateful for this quiet, thoughtful care. During my leisurely time in Kuching, I stayed in three traditional wooden guesthouses. Although Kuching is located in the tropics, the abundance of trees means that as long as there's good ventilation, air conditioning isn't really necessary. These traditional wooden buildings were just like that—simple and unpretentious, yet surprisingly cool. My top recommendation is Marco Polo Guesthouse. If I ever return to Kuching, I will definitely stay here again. Amenities: WiFi, air conditioning, hot and cold water dispenser, kitchen, clothes drying area, paid washing machine None: Hair dryer (Original)

Sam is the man! I came to Kuching at the end of Dec '24 to see the city and explore Bako and Santubong. I stayed at Marco Polo Guesthouse for 3 nights. From the get go Sam was super welcoming and friendly. He asked me all about my plans and helped me make the best of them. The rooms were nice, it felt relaxing and like a home. There was a nice, laid atmosphere to the place. I would stay here again! 🙂
