OYO empowering asset owners to develop entrepreneurial spirit in Indore

When a practice is small, it’s easy for a lawyer to keep track and stay on top of everything, right from clients, research to internal matters. For Arpit Gupta from Indore, however, this was not the case as he was leading a law firm that was flourishing under his guidance while simultaneously juggling various roles at the same time. A lawyer by profession, a doting son who handled his father’s business when it was in crisis, a proficient businessman, this list just scratches the surface.

For Arpit, his tryst with the hospitality industry began three years ago. With limited visibility of how to successfully run his existing hotel and an objective to make it available to all kinds of travellers, he joined hands with OYO to convert this dream into a reality.  His hotel was listed on other portals previously, but in 2016, he got his property on-boarded on OYO after hearing about the brand from others in the industry. Since then he has had a great experience with OYO in terms of revenue and guests delight, and the relationship has been extremely fruitful.

It was in 2006 that Arpit started practising in the Supreme Court which then lasted for the next 9 years. In those days, his father’s health was not too good, and being the only son, he had to come back and run the family business. The business was getting affected and call of the hour was to pull up his socks and steer the business towards recovery. Soon by December 2015, he shifted to Indore and has been here since then.

Arpit recounts his experience, The concept OYO brought to the market was different compared to what any other brand was offering at that point in time. Slowly and gradually we understood how the brand functioned and the different services it extended to a potential hotelier. It took multiple sessions, property verification, audits and walkthroughs before we shifted our entire business to OYO.

In those years, every hotelier’s worry was to tap the right potential in ensuring a seamless guest experience. OYO has been a blessing to me with its consistent support, I am able to manage my different business interests and personal life with ease. We also run the oldest sweet shop by the name Mathurawala in Indore which has been thriving as well.

Grabbing the title of the cleanest city in India for the last 3 consecutive years, Indore has been staying true to this achievement. It has evolved into a major hub for doing business and is rightly referred to as the financial capital of Madhya Pradesh. The tourism industry in Indore has been thriving owing to the numerous spots of cultural and religious importance. Utilising the potential of curating unique experiences for tourists, OYO Hotels & Homes, South Asia’s largest, China’s 2nd largest, and the world’s 5th largest and fastest-growing chain of leased and franchised hotels, homes & living spaces has been empowering asset owners like Arpit across the country.

OYO Hotels & Homes has been creating a significant impact in terms of offering great customer experience and creating micro-entrepreneurs in Indore. Leveraging its innovative technology, OYO has struck a chord instantly with customers, especially the millennials in the city and there has been no stopping since then.

Additionally, OYO works closely with asset owners across geographies to help them realize business goals and point out what is working well and what could be done better. Recently the company also launched OYO Partner Engagement Network (OPEN) – a year-long initiative with 6 core promises for 9000+ asset owners in India (only for India). It further introduced an upgraded Co-OYO app for asset owners that provides complete visibility on all business & customer metrics. The app helps to enhance the quality of standalone hotels and improves occupancy from 25% to 65% on an average, increasing the yield on underutilized assets for asset owners.

Further to the above OYO also sanctions financial support for overhauling the property, while extending additional support like equipping the hotel with LED televisions, AC, Wi-Fi, CCTV, Dish TV, quality linen, etc. This will also allow creating thousands of jobs in Tier II and III cities by nurturing micro-entrepreneurs in the hospitality sector thus leading to their economic growth.
