(Translated by Google) Upon our arrival at 1:10 p.m., a very friendly Canadian greeted us at the reception desk, where there was also a water dispenser and a snack machine, and told us we could already check into our room (we hadn't booked early check-in). Our room was spacious and even had a bathtub. In addition to coffee and black tea, chamomile and peppermint tea were also available on the hospitality tray. The room was very clean. There was plenty of storage space around the bathroom. Since we didn't have any glasses in the room, I went to the reception desk and asked for some. The receptionist gave me two glasses without hesitation. Then we walked into town, where we arrived at the cathedral after about five minutes. For breakfast the next day, there were egg dishes (except scrambled eggs) made to order in various ways, as well as a selection of fresh fruit and several sweet pastries. (Original) Bei unserer Ankunft um 13:10 empfing uns ein sehr freundlicher Kanadier an der Rezeption, an welcher auch ein Wasserspender und ein Snackautomat standen, und sagte uns, dass wir unser Zimmer schon beziehen dürfen (wir hatten keinen Early Check-In gebucht). Unser Zimmer war geräumig und hatte sogar eine Badewanne. Neben Kaffee und schwarzem Tee waren auch Kamillen- und Pfefferminztee auf dem hospitality tray. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber. Um Bad gab es genug Ablagemöglichkeiten. Da wir keine Gläser auf dem Zimmer hatten ging ich zur Rezeption und fragte nach welchen, ohne Zögern gab mir der Rezeptionist zwei Gläser. Dann gingen wir in die Stadt wo wir nach ca. fünf Minuten bei der Kathedrale waren. Zum Frühstück am nächsten Tag gab es Eierspeisen (außer Rührei) auf Bestellung in verschiedenen Zubereitungen, zudem eine Auswahl an frischem Obst und mehreren süßen Backwaren. What more could you ask for in a city centre hotel? Spacious rooms (124 and 126), spotless, with tea and coffee facilities and two complimentary bottles of water, a lovely bathroom, and good mirrors (one conveniently located near a plug - not something you find everywhere!). The reception staff we interacted with were absolutely fantastic - so welcoming and helpful. We stayed on a Thursday night and were fortunate to snag a parking spot - excellent value at £12.50 for 24 hours (for guests - non-residents pay a higher rate). The building itself is stunning, and I would describe the interior as having a charming, faded grandeur - sure, it shows a bit of wear here and there, but hotel rooms do get a lot of use (and sometimes by guests who may not treat them with care), yet it doesn't detract from your experience. We opted not to have breakfast, so I can't comment on that - Exeter has so many dining options that it wasn't necessary for us. The hotel is also directly across from Central station - super convenient, and I would definitely stay here again when visiting my son.
