Clean, convenient, and affordable. I found this hotel using the BringFido app that helps locate pet-friendly hotels. My dog is a rescue and can get quite nervous in new places, but she settled right in here. I also forgot my watch when I checked out, and one of the employees, Ken, called me shortly after to let me know I left it behind. So glad he called right away because I was about to head to Seattle on the highway. Thank you!
My 18 year old and our cat travelled from Massachusetts to Portland Oregon this summer and stayed at least 10 different motels. All of them were less than 100$ a night. All of them had problems. None of them were like home. It's the nature of motels in that price range. There are many things out of motel managers' control -- such as what people do in their rooms (fight, smoke, bring bugs in their luggage, etc). The important thing is how motel staff respond. The Unicorn Inn has cameras on every public inch of its property. They take safety seriously. The motel is in a section of Portland that is affected by homelessness, but it is also the epicenter of truly terrific and authentic Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese (try Kenny's Noodles) food. Not only were the staff responsive to what we needed (moving us to a more comfortable room when it turned out we had to stay longer because our friend got sick and we couldn't stay with her), but other people staying were kind. Highly recommend if you want to feel safe and welcomed.

- Pet stays are free. A refundable pet deposit of $35 per pet is required at check-in. The deposit will be fully refunded after checkout, provided no damage or excessive cleaning resulting from your pet is required. If such damages or additional cleaning costs are incurred, all or part of the deposit may be retained to cover those expenses. $50 deposit for two pets.
- A maximum of two pets are permitted per room. Any additional pets beyond this limit are not allowed without prior approval from hotel management. Please contact the property directly for approval requests or further assistance.
- A damage deposit of US$30 is required on arrival. This will be collected as a cash payment. You should be reimbursed on check-out. Your deposit will be refunded in full in cash, subject to an inspection of the property.
- To check-in, guests will need to present valid identification at the hotel. These include Driver's licenses or other state photo identity cards issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles (or equivalent), government-issued passports, US government-issued IDs if driver's license is not available. A credit card, debit card or cash deposit may be required at check-in for incidental charges. For properties offering self check-in, ID verification will be completed digitally as part of the check-in process prior to arrival.
