1. Can you play TPC San Antonio without staying there?

Located in Cibolo Canyons in north San Antonio, the Tournaments Players Club (TPC) San Antonio is a private resort and golf club that can only be accessed by members and guests of the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa. The TPC San Antonio has two courses, The Canyons, and The Oaks.

If you want to play TPC San Antonio without staying at the JW Marriott Resort, you need to become a member, but remember that this membership comes at a steep price. The initiation fee to become a TPC Network Club Member can be anywhere between $25,000 to $50,000. Additionally, there are also annual dues of up to $5000. Therefore, it is much cheaper to spend a night at the resort for around $350 – $500 and enjoy a game at either of the two courses.

2. How hard is TPC San Antonio?

Opened in 2010, the AT&T Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio is one of the most challenging courses on the PGA Tour. The other course at TPC San Antonio, the AT&T Canyons Course, hosts the AT&T Championship on the Champions Tour. Even though the Canyons course has more dramatic elevation changes and difficult tee shots, it is still considered relatively easier than the Oaks Course. 

Designed by Greg Norman, the Oaks Course hosts the annual Valero Texas Open and is deemed a compelling course with aggressive bunkers, demanding par 4s and 5s, and a difficult closing hole. Since 2015, only 319 out of more than 2200 players have attempted the long second shot on the 18th hole. Only 60 of these 319 succeeded!

Over the years, the course underwent modifications like bunker shifts, elevation changes, and re-contouring after suggestions from season tour players.
