Visit the Old Historic Oakland Cemetery

The Oakland Cemetery is one of the oldest graveyards in the city. While the thought of going to the cemetery may sound scary to some, in earlier days cemeteries were used as parks for picnics and to pay respects to deceased family members.  

The cemetery also organizes tours like Black Magnolias and the Women of Oakland. While the former provides insights on the African-American women builders, the latter throws light on Atlanta’s underserved women.

Explore the Governor’s Mansion

The governor’s mansion is a three-story Greek revival mansion. The picturesque beauty, lavish decor, and fascinating stories behind the place are sure to interest visitors. The present mansion was built in 1967 as a replacement to the old Governor’s mansion.

Spend a Quiet Afternoon at Woodruff Park Reading Room

Woodruff Park Reading Room boasts of a great collection of books. The collection of books include fiction, thrillers, short stories, historical and business books and some rare archives. There are books for children as well.

Visit the Fernbank Science Center

Space enthusiasts are sure to enjoy the Fernbank Science Center. Not only does the center house space exhibit but it also has an observatory and planetarium. Also, the museum has several live animal exhibits.
