OYO Hotels in Shahibag Ahmedabad

Shahibag Ahmedabad is a garden palace in Ahmedabad which was also known as a Royal Garden Palace. The palace was built by the Mughal Emperor Shahjehan in order to provide income to the people who were facing problems of livelihood during a period of crisis. Shah Jahan is also credited being the only emperor in the world to have built a mausoleum of love. It is known the world over as the Taj Mahal located in the city of Agra in Uttar Pradesh, a state in India. Shah Jahan had a special taste for fine architecture and love for luxury and women with a certain amount of aesthetics spiked into it. When he built this palace as a gesture of his compassion for the people in the dire strait, he himself was not the emperor himself. He was the governor of the city appointed by his father emperor Jahangir.

The exquisite garden here was planted with some exotic trees from different lands. The trees were cedar, cypresses, palms, mango, tamarind and of many other species. The palace is spacious and lofty and has an overall grand appearance, though only a few relics of the past it has been left with. The Shahibag Ahmedabad will go down the history as one structure that was built for the benefit of the poor and that’s commendable indeed. Apart from the main room, other rooms and terraces were erected with great care. The roof has been buttressed in such a way that it is capable of withstanding ages of weathering and wuthering winds that might sweep across the city. The palace is also strong enough to withstand the quakes in the area. The garden is skirted by a fine avenue imitating the avenues of Paris and the terraces once used to be laden with tufts of flowers overhanging its intricately crafted railings. The palace evinces awe and respect in the onlookers.
