The hotel is delightful, situated right in the city centre yet on a quiet side street, making it ideal for exploring the area. However, if you are arriving by car, do exercise caution. We arrived at 1:00 PM, an hour before check-in. There are three parking spaces directly in front of the hotel, as well as two more in front of the associated pub. Out of these five spaces, four were empty. We thought we could leave our car there and let the reception know that we would check in later after a stroll around the city. Unfortunately, this was not allowed! Despite the available spaces, we had to wait an hour until check-in time! This led us to navigate through side streets to find a paid parking space and return later to use the hotel's parking, which was the primary reason we chose this hotel! It was rather frustrating! To make matters worse, the only car parked there belonged to a staff member at the reception! We have never encountered such inflexible customer service. What would be the harm? One could argue that one space should remain available for guests checking out and loading their cars (but why would they park there in the first place?). Regardless, four empty spaces?! This felt like pure bureaucracy. The otherwise enjoyable experience at the hotel was significantly affected by this. We will not be returning.
Always immaculately clean. Great pricing, especially with three hotels located so close together, and The Berkely Square Hotel just a short two-minute walk away. Fantastic variety at breakfast. Due to time constraints and the lateness of my booking, I had to choose a shared bathroom. To my surprise, it was no bother at all, and it was kept exceptionally tidy. The bed was quite low, just about a foot off the ground, but incredibly comfortable, with some of the best pillows you could wish for. There was a plug socket by the bedside for my phone, which was a lovely touch. The room was snug and warm, perfect for a chilly January. Checked all the boxes, and with January being a quieter month for hospitality, it was likely underpriced.
