The Evening meal on Friday 20th March from my perspective (I had the lamb stack in jus ) was a little dry and in my opinion needed more sauce and was luke warm). Shower in our room was not hot enough, too fierce and could not be regulated. I would also suggest a new mattress be considered as ours was not very comfortable (Problem with the springs very lumpy).We arrived at approx 5.15 pm on Saturday 20/03/2026 and were greeted very warmly by the lady on reception . Our room was a lovely size and very clean. Breakfast was excellent, as was our evening meal on Saturday 21st March (Main Course and Dessert.) It was the first time my husband had eaten Pheasant and he enjoyed it so much he had it again on our second night .I had the Sirloin steak (medium rare ) which was cooked to perfection.The dessert was the best we had eaten in a long while. It was the Apple and Rhubarb Tart with Creme Anglaise and Ice-cream. I have to give a special mention to the staff in the Restaurant who were very pleasant (especially the breakfast staff) and all were hardworking, nothing was too much trouble.
Our room looked out onto the flat roof that houses the extractor system. This posed some issues - the noise was very unpleasant though does get turned off at 10ish at night. The hotel is by a river so in summer has a big problem with midges and bugs so the windows cannot be opened but due to the extractor noise you might not want to. However, the bathroom didn't have extraction so the room became very humid after a shower and you cannot vent out that heat. The shower has it's own issues as well! The water pressure is great but the temperature can run from freezing cold to boiling, regardless of what the temperature is set to. The spotlight bulbs flickered but couldn't be turned off independently of the main light.Breakfast by the open patio doors watching the birds was lovely. The pool and jacuzzi were amazing. The room size was good and was clean. Plenty of parking round the back
