There was a stale smoke smell in the bedroom and potentially this was on the sheets and though the hotel was spotless, ot smelt as if the company who washed the sheets may have people who smoked around the sheets, but this is only a guess. The staircase we used whenever going up and down stairs and this looked like it hadn't seen a hoover in a few weeks, but this may have been the age of the carpet. Over all the rest of the hotel was clean but very worn and needs refurbishment, a bit of investment jn this hotel and it would be amazing.Ps. On floor 2 it seemed to smell of weed when using the staircase no matter what time of day.Overall Donna who worked on reception and served breakfast was the only staff member we came into contact with, but she was absolutely outstanding, she really made our trip to the hotel an excellent one. We were greeted with a smile and nothing was too much bother. Can't say how lucky this hotel chain is to have her working there,
We understand the property is in the process of refurbishment and as such this obviously is taken into account Your staff make up for the situation in many ways Even at the end of 12 hour shifts the staff remain Engaging helpful and charming. It seems the management must be the luckiest employers in the country. I hope they are TOTALLY APRECIATIVE. Having travelled World wide for an American company and stayed at prestigious hotels I have to give your staff credit for their welcome In what can only be adverse conditions inherited at the end of Covid.Breakfast Excellent selection.wonderful poached eggs Good quality bacon Wonderful excellent customer service. Chef you go above and beyond ( even gave us instructions regarding weather and directions Donna looks after everyone! Welcoming caring and cannot do enough for her guests ( and it is evident by the way she greets and is greeted by her guests ) For the people who use the hotel regularly they are made to feel like they are coming home.
