The location is nestled in a newly developed road area, yet it was incredibly peaceful and away from the hustle and bustle. Even during Storm Darraugh, I managed to sleep soundly through the gusty winds. I stayed in room 1, conveniently located at the front and right by the entrance, which made it easy to move my luggage. I did notice the door slamming when other guests arrived, but it was infrequent and never late, as there are only 7 rooms in total. The small number of rooms contributed to a sense of safety for me as a solo female traveler, and the atmosphere was wonderfully tranquil. There’s an Indian restaurant nearby where you can order meals and take away, which is a nice option. I opted for a simple breakfast of mushrooms on toast, and it was quite tasty. The room itself was spacious, clean, and well-kept, and the bathroom was impressively large! The shower had great water pressure and was easily adjustable. The double bed was very comfortable, and I had a restful night’s sleep on the mattress. As someone with a sensitive back and knee, I truly appreciated how supportive the mattress was, especially since many hotel beds can leave me feeling sore the next day. The highlight of my stay was definitely the customer service. Shah was exceptionally friendly, approachable, and eager to help. This hotel is very budget-friendly, with the room priced at an incredible £50.00 per night, breakfast included. A big thank you to Shah and Hawk House in West Camel, Somerset. I would absolutely return!

The hotel is perfectly located just off the A303, making it easy to reach Ilchester, which was our destination. Our room was spacious, and the bed was incredibly comfortable (my wife absolutely loved it), while the shower and bath facilities were modern, spotless, and efficient. On the top floor, there’s a lovely lounge area with a desk, chairs, and a cozy sofa, leading out to a patio that overlooks beautiful green fields. I utilized this space as my office, and it was a delightful environment. The breakfast selection offered both meat and vegetarian options, all well-prepared. Fresh juices and excellent coffee paired wonderfully with the meal. Even though the hotel is a bit outside of town, it boasts fantastic dining options on-site. Zayn's is a contemporary bistro that operates during the day, and at night, the Blue Camel serves Indian cuisine. The menu at Zayn's featured delicious beef and chicken burgers that were both tasty and well-crafted. The Indian restaurant, The Blue Camel, was simply exceptional. With a comprehensive menu filled with many new dishes for me, the food was prepared and presented to the highest standards. The flavors of the dishes we tried were superb. However, what truly stood out was the staff. Our host, Saiyeed, was fantastic. He was warm, friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the local area and the hotel and catering industry. If you’re looking for a break in your travels or just a unique place to stay for a couple of nights in the region, I highly recommend considering the Hawk House Hotel.
