The location is fantastic! We opted for a larger room than the basic option, and it was incredibly spacious, providing us with everything we could possibly need. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, making for a great night's sleep. The cleanliness was impeccable, and the toiletries had a lovely scent. The bathroom was well-lit and inviting. For Winchester, this place offers outstanding value. The view from our room was likely the best in the area, with a direct sightline to the cathedral! The breakfast was a delightful buffet; although it wasn't included in our room rate, it was definitely worth the extra cost—far superior to anything we could have found at a local café.

The small double room was a great size and layout for a solo traveler. It did get quite warm, but I found a fan tucked away in the top cupboard. It was a bit dusty, so I took a moment to clean it off before using it in the bathroom. My room didn’t have a hairdryer, but the staff at reception quickly brought one from another room in the evening, which I appreciated. I really enjoyed the decor that reflected Winchester; it made the hotel feel more local rather than just another chain. While the decor is somewhat worn and could use a refresh, it’s still perfectly functional for the time being.
