We had a lovely two night stay here recently. They had some difficulty finding our reservation and our room was then changed from the one we’d originally booked. Given a complimentary drink while we waited. The room did need some TLC, although we could see they’d done some recent work. The toilet top was all broken and some paint work did need touching up. The room was lovely and big, plenty of drinks facilities on the room and the huge bed was so comfortable. The bathroom was also a great size with a bath and shower. We only ate in the bar once, the service was great and the food was fresh, however I felt the fish should have been cooked a little longer as it was soggy underneath. We came back one evening to a load of bikes in the hallway, it was quite dangerous, we could just access the door to our room. We would have booked again but noticed the huge hike in prices even in October / November months.

We stayed here for a couple of nights when we did the Might Hike for Macmillan. The staff were great, really welcoming and as we had an early start (before breakfast service) they arranged for some pastries, cereal and fruit to be left out for us to pick up. The next day we did get to utilise the breakfast service and along with the pastries there was bacon and sausages available plus toast and other healthy options. The food on the dinner menu was also top notch, between us we had steak and ale pie, salmon, steak and gammon and all of it was delicious. The deserts were the same and couldn't be faulted. The rooms were clean and comfortable with drinks facilities and bottled water and the WiFi and parking were free as well. It's a great base for other walking trips although the village is small so not really much else to see.
