Although the bathroom facilities are shared, there are plenty to choose from on each floor, and I believe most rooms come equipped with a sink that has both hot and cold water. Each room also features a radiator and a remote-controlled multichannel TV. The communal kitchen is well-equipped with a microwave, fridge, and toaster, and there's a lovely, relaxed sitting area downstairs. The atmosphere is friendly, and everything is kept very clean. Just a short walk away is O’Grady’s pub, which offers fantastic food and drinks, and the Regent Cinema is in the opposite direction. The lodge is only a few minutes' stroll from Redcar Central train station, and you’ll find Morrisons supermarket and the Morrisons Extra store at the end of the road, open until 10 PM. The town center and leisure center are also nearby. There are plenty of bus options just a few minutes away, along with regular train services to various destinations!

I really appreciated how close the hotel is to the beach, and there's a great pub (O'Grady's) just at the end of the street along with a Morrisons local. It's about a 15-minute walk to the center and around 20 minutes to the races. The mattresses on the beds are fantastic—so comfortable for a good night's sleep. The rooms are quite basic and might feel a tad pricey for what you get, but the owner and her daughter are absolutely lovely. Since it was race day, I suspect the rates were a bit higher. The room comes with a bedside cabinet, a chest of drawers, a wardrobe, a sink in the corner, a TV, and a heater/fan. If the price were a bit lower, I would definitely consider coming back, but at £90 a night, it feels a bit steep for a 2-star hotel.
