This was exactly the kind of place I was hoping for when I booked, affordable and cheerful. The woman at the front desk, who seemed to be handling everything on her own, was incredibly friendly and polite. My only real concern was that it could have been a bit cheaper. I understand it’s London, and hotels in general tend to be quite overpriced, but for a room with two single beds, given the hotel’s nature, £60 felt a bit steep, while £40 would have been more reasonable. This isn’t a criticism of the hotel itself; they’re pricing according to the area and competition, and we did book last minute. However, the accommodation industry really needs to reconsider its pricing, especially for low-maintenance services like this one. That said, I’m not going to nitpick because, by a significant margin, this was the most affordable hotel that met our needs (of those still available), and it was perfectly adequate for what we paid. Maybe it’s not the best choice for families with very young kids or for those who can’t handle a place that isn’t pristine or a four-star hotel. Overall, I think this spot would be fantastic for the more "adventurous" types, those who are non-judgmental, on a tight budget, and who appreciate a place that feels "lived-in." I can only imagine the fascinating stories the figurative flies on the wall here would have to share...
