We had a lovely stay with very friendly and welcoming staff. We mainly used the place just for sleeping, and it served that purpose perfectly. The beds were comfortable, and the traditional English breakfast was delightful, complemented by the cheerful and helpful team. There aren’t any frills, but honestly, who needs them? We would definitely return. It’s just a short stroll to Ripon Square, where you can find plenty of restaurants, cafes, and an excellent tapas bar. There’s a cash machine inside Sainsbury’s, which is a bit hidden through an opening in the square, so keep an eye out for it. Ripon can be a bit lively with traffic during the day, but it quiets down nicely at night, and there seems to be a vibrant social scene. The cathedral is a must-see, and Fountains Abbey (National Trust) is absolutely worth the short drive, as it’s truly stunning.

What an absolutely amazing hotel located within a charming traditional pub! It's perfectly situated right in the heart of Ripon. We visited for a race day as a group, and the rooms were nestled in a beautiful courtyard. The pub offered classic dishes, and we had a delightful dinner there. Everyone was thrilled with their accommodations and found them very comfortable. Our stay included a lovely breakfast the following morning, and the lady who served us was incredibly friendly and attentive, while the chef truly impressed us with his skills. Honestly, we couldn't have asked for a better experience as a group of six; each one of us raved about how wonderful it was, and we all can't wait to return for another visit. We will definitely be making plans to come back soon!
