I have visited the Portland Hotel several times, but I was a bit disappointed this time when I found out that the restaurant was closed and only a limited dinner menu was available from the temporary dining area: just sandwiches and pizza! As women of a certain age, we prefer not to venture out in the evening looking for a restaurant, and we would have appreciated being informed about the lack of a full restaurant when we made our booking.
The location is super central, making it easy to walk to various dining options and the main shopping area. It's also convenient for getting to Manchester's attractions. Both the train and coach stations are within walking distance. The hotel had everything I needed in the room, the bed was really comfortable, and there was air conditioning available. I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Manchester.
