The Sierra de Aracena mountains and Picos de Aroche. This is a lower mountain rage, ideal for hikings and bird watching and have a soft and rounded shape. The height of most peaks ranges between 400 and 900 m (1,300 and 3,000 feet). The highest point is Cerro del Castaño, 962 m. Other prominent peaks are Cerro de San Cristóbal, 917 m. and Cerro de Santa Bárbara, 814 m.[2,671 ft], the latter is located close to Cortegana. The climate is comparatively humid by Andalusian standards and the quiet slopes of the mountains are covered mostly with forest, which is made up of chestnuts, holm oaks and cork oaks.
