It wasn't that I felt unsafe as much as I was concerned about the safety of your front desk clerk. She was amazing, but very disruptive people came in (my room was near the front desk). She handled them great but I feel the location near other hotels (one of which looked abandoned) added to the unsafe feeling. The room itself was clean and comfortable.
