Hitting The Road The Rajasthani Way: Udaipur Trip

Udaipur is one popular destination that strikes a perfect balance between a memorable experience and happening moments. 1.Visit the biggest public aquarium in India

The ‘Under the Sun’ aquarium is the largest fish aquarium in India, in terms of marine life variety, their number and gallons of water. You can enter the tank and feed the fishes. Photography is also permitted inside the aquarium, which makes the experience more memorable, as you can store your own personal copy of your moments.

2. Take a trip down the historical lane: Haldighati

Haldighati is a place of great historical significance and Udaipur’s own gem. It is dedicated to Maharana Pratap and his horse Chetak. The campus also has a cenotaph built in the memory of the loyal horse Chetak, who served his master till his last breath.

The administration is well-organized. A guide is appointed by the venue management for free. A short film is also shown at the theatre followed by a walk through the movable statues.

Tip: You should reach early morning or so when there are fewer tourists.

3. Visit Udaipur Solar Observatory

Sitting in the lap of Fateh Sagar Lake on an island, the observatory is considered one of the best in Asia to observe solar behaviours. It uses a variety of telescopes and is a paradise for astronomy enthusiasts. The journey through a motorboat in Fateh Sagar Lake to reach the observatory is also a short but memorable experience.

4. Get a taste of culture at the Kumbhalgarh Fort

Kumbhalgarh Fort is the second most important fort of Rajasthan after Chittorgarh. Located at a distance of 64 kms from Udaipur in Rajasmand district, Kumbhalgarh Fort is easily accessible from the city of Udaipur. The fort also holds a famous sound and light show in the night that is a spectacle to watch.

5. Go horse-riding

If you’re one to enjoy adventurous activities, horse riding is just the right activity for you. There are several places where you can enjoy horse-riding- the Aravali range being one of them. You can get a beautiful view of the city while riding and can also explore the countryside and rural areas.

6. Go wildlife spotting to Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary

The Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary surrounds the Sajjangarh Palace. Situated at a distance of 5 km from the destination, the sanctuary is home to sambars, wild boars, chitals, hyenas, jackals, panthers, hares and blue bulls. One of the top attractions here is the Tiger Lake, also known as the Bari Lake. You can either go for a safari here, or simply trek through the forest.

7. Treat your eyes to scenic beauty-Tiger Lake

The tiger lake is not a very touristy spot yet popular enough in its own right. It is a man-made lake built by Maharana Raj Singhji of Mewar in the 17th century. Hike to the lake in the morning and get one of the best views and vibes to experience. As you walk through agricultural fields, you can interact with the warm locals. Once you reach your destination after an exhausting walk, the hilltop view of the city would be all worth it.

8. Have a shopping spree at Hathi Pol Bazaar

Rajasthan is already popularly known as the go-to place for traditional souvenirs and the Hathi Pol Bazaar in Udaipur further does justice to the reputation. The market is filled with ethnic things ranging from souvenirs to artisanal products- all at a negotiable price.

9. Take a sunset boat cruise at Lake Pichola

Named after the nearby village Picholi, Lake Pichola is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Udaipur. You can either visit the place to connect with yourself and enjoy the serene surroundings or you can go on a memorable boat ride. The sunset and sunrise view from the lake is a must-do.

If you are someone who wants to get a taste of adventure but aren’t yet ready for a bungee jumping experience, you can always try out riding the ropeway in Udaipur. It has become a popular tourist activity and the panoramic view you get while riding it, adds to the thrill of the experience.
