1. Nandavana Children’s Park

Located in a residential hub, this park is mostly a favorite among the moms as they bring their children in the evening to enjoy some exercise and fresh air. The park is well equipped with children’s activities and tolls and there is also a rock climbing wall which the children just love. A beautiful fountain at the center of the park adds beauty to the place.

Timings: 9 am to 1 pm and 4 pm to 8:30 pm

2. Jawahar Bal Bhavan

Located inside the premises of the great Cubbon Park, this is a wonderful place to visit with your family if you have children. The play area is amazing and the children will love the toy train ride. There are swings, seesaws and slides there are also provisions for skating and boating. The nearby aquarium is also a major attraction. It happens to be one of the best children’s park in Bangalore.

3. Jaya Prakash Narayan Park

JP Park is a fun and educational park to be in and there are many provisions made for the children here like swings, merry-go-rounds and seesaws. The park has life size figures of various notable figures as well as rural farming, forests and animals and children love to gaze upon them. You will also find a rock garden here with the seating area made of broken glass of various colors for a stunning effect. A small lake at the center of the park adds to its beauty and there are musical fountain shows held at 7 pm and 7:45 pm.

Location: Mathikere
Timings: 5 am to 8:30 am and 5 pm to 8:30 pm. Closed on Wednesdays Attraction: Rock garden and musical fountain

4. Science Park in Nehru Planetarium

The Nehru Park is a must visit if you have kids in the family and this interesting park inside the science complex is a very educational place. There are models of various kinds of scientific objects along with play equipments as well. There are also models of the solar system, music pipes and the whispering dish. Other attractions include model of the DNA, Optic Tree and the Transverse Waves. It is possible to spend an entire day here without getting bored. The park also has parking facilities.

5. Sri Vani Science Park

This Park has been developed by the Vani Educational Centre so that science becomes more fun and exciting for the children. The park’s main attractions are life size dinosaurs and a full-fledged Dino museum. There are also different kinds of old machines and their models, stone carvings, preserved fossils and other items which fascinate the children. The science park stretches over 4.5 acres and there are lots of specimens of rare flora. Entry is absolutely free.

6. Cubbon Park

If you are in Bangalore, you cannot afford to miss the spectacular Cubbon Park. It is a huge park located in the heart of city and is spread over 100 acres. It was initially known as Meade’s Park but was renamed Cubbon Park. The natural rock formations are a major attraction here and there are species of bamboo trees, along with other kinds of flowers to be seen here. The park comes alive with the chirping of birds in the mornings and evenings. A huge library is also located here and is a frequent haunt for students.

7. Turahalli Forest

If you want to indulge in a bit of an adventure with your family then you have to visit Turahalli Forest. It is located 21 km away from the city but will nevertheless provide you with splendid views as you drive. You will be able to spot wild animals, monitor lizards, jackals and mongoose during your stay. The best part is that you can go for hiking here or also cycle through the woods. It is best to reach at early morning and leave by sunset.

8. Kokkare Bellur Bird Sanctuary

Kokkare in Kannada means Painted Stork and this park sees hundreds of them as the monsoons come to an end. The small, forested area is also home to spot billed pelicans. Both the species of birds are near endangered and are mainly protected by the villager. It is a great place to spend time here, watching the birds frolic in their natural habitat. It is locates about 87 km from Bangalore but the ride is worth it.

9. Bugle Rock Park

The Park is located near the Bull Temple in Basavangudi and it is mainly famous for its rock formations which rise abruptly. There is also a watch tower here, built by Kempe Gowda and guards blew horns from here to guard the city. You can go to the top to view the panoramic city spread out below. If you are lucky, you will also be able to spot the endangered bats, the Flying Fox, in the nearby trees.

10. Lalbagh Botanical Garden

The largest of all parks in Bangalore, this park was first established by Haider Ali and later it was expanded by Tipu Sultan. It has a huge collection of tropical plants and flower festivals are held here frequently. The park spans over a whopping 240 acres and so it is impossible to cover it in a day. There are two glass houses inside the park, as well as a lotus pond and the Lalbagh Rock is also here. You will be able to watch all kinds of birds and butterflies here as well. Entry is INR 20 per person. You can also opt for a vehicle tour of the park. It is the best biological park in Bangalore.

11. Bannerghatta National Park

While most parents take their children to the zoo, this National Park provides a great alternative where you can go on a safari with your family. If you are fortunate, then you will be able to watch the leopards in their natural habitat. You will also find elephants near the waterhole along with sloth bears and other animals which were rescued from circuses. There is also a snake park and a butterfly park inside the premises. Toy train ride is a major attraction here.

12. Dodha Aladha Mara

The Big Banyan Tree, as it means, is a major attraction of the city. It is said that the tree is over 400 years old and with all its hanging roots, it spreads over three acres! If trees could talk, how much it could have told us. Thousands of birds have made it their homes, along with monkeys as well. Children find it exciting to play hide and seek under the tree and the shade is really soothing to the senses.

13. Wonderla

This spectacular amusement park is one of the most popular ones in the city and is resort styled park where one can enjoy a variety of rides and amusements. The water rides here are the most amazing and the adults usually for the high thrill rides. The park provides all kinds of facilities like cloakrooms, dormitories, restrooms and parking and there are cafes and snack bars for your hunger pangs as well.

14. Snow City

You have to visit this amusement park during the summers and you will be able to visit a snow kingdom even during the peak summer months. This is an indoor park where you can have fun in the snow for 365 days. The temperature is of course, artificially controlled, but once inside, you will forget about it and will be transported to another kingdom. There are igloos, snow animals, and even snow castles, so you will feel like you are in a Disney movie.

15. Fun World

As the name suggests, you are sure to have loads of fun in this amusement park. What started off as a small entertainment park in 1990, is today a full- fledged amusement park. There are all kinds of rides for children and adults and the most popular ones of them are the Mini Bumper Boats, Mini Pirate Ship and the Carousel. Adults can enjoy in the NFS Car race and Yahoo Slide. There are plenty of snack bars and cafes as well as parking facilities. Entry is INR 550 per person.

16. Freedom Park

This park is located in the heart of the city, in the Central Business District and happens to be very popular. Although formerly the Central Jail, it does not have any of its grim ambience. A part of the park is reserved for holding campaigns and protests and amphitheater is also there for the purpose. The other areas of the park have a water fountain, the Jail Museum and the Sculpture Court. There are also some cafeterias here. Although it is not a so called cheerful park, yet it is a place which will allow you to think about important issues facing the society.

Location: Seshadri Road, Gandhi Nagar
Timings: 5 am to 8 am and 4 pm to 8 pm.
Attraction: Fountain, sculpture court and Jail museum
