Keep in mind this review reflects the fact that it's a modest 2-star place, so considering that, it's truly a fantastic value for what you pay. The pool is a nice touch, and having the red jazz bar on-site is definitely a perk. Located in the southeast corner of the old city, the location is quite good. The A/C works well, and everything else is functional; the rooms aren't huge, so there's not much space to unpack, but it's perfect for backpackers looking for a comfy bed, a hot shower, and a chance to unwind by the pool. I didn't try the breakfast, so I can't comment on that, but for a great breakfast option, check out the French bakery just around the corner. L'opera is run by a true magician! The croissants, bread, and pastries are absolutely to die for—it's hard to believe he can create such delights outside of his home country. If you're looking for an alternative to the typical Asian breakfast 🤮, this place is a solid 10/10.

Senior traveler in CHIANG MAI on a budget" I recently had the pleasure of exploring Chiang Mai, and let me tell you, it was an absolute delight! As an older gentleman traveling on a shoestring, I found this city to be incredibly welcoming and affordable. The local markets are a treasure trove of unique finds, and the street food is simply out of this world—so many flavors to savor! I spent my days wandering through the stunning temples, each one more beautiful than the last, and the lush landscapes surrounding the city are just breathtaking. The people here are warm and friendly, always ready to share a smile or a helpful tip. Accommodations were easy to find without breaking the bank, and I loved the cozy guesthouses that offered a real taste of local life. Whether you're looking to immerse yourself in culture or just relax and enjoy the scenery, Chiang Mai has it all. I can't recommend this place enough for anyone, especially fellow budget travelers like myself!
