We’ve got big news! The talented team at OYOxDesign has won yet another accolade. The OYO Life property in AECS Layout, Bengaluru, has bagged the second runner-up award for Commercial Interior (Built) at Rethinking The Future’s Architecture, Construction & Design Awards 2018.

Rethinking The Future, an international platform for design talent from across the world has recognised and acknowledged the unique design thought and execution that went into this OYO Life property.

Part of OYO Life, this gorgeous property provides quality living spaces across 36 rooms for young professionals. The common spaces are full of colour and personality, from colourful frames on the walls to vibrant umbrellas on the terrace. The corridors and passages were designed in a manner to encourage interactions with neighbours. However, quiet corners have also been provided which can double up as reading corners or workstations.

Because this property is in Bengaluru, a city with perfect weather throughout the year, the terrace had to have its own character. We created a shack for the residents here to chill after a long day at work. 

Apart from the charming furniture, the roof of this shack attracts everyone’s attention. We used vibrant umbrellas as the roof of this area, so it’s conveniently Instagrammable. 

Besides being a conversation starter, the decor in this OYO Life property is also a way to tell micro-stories about the city. Each photo has a QR code which tells you more about the image. This is a great icebreaker and a fun way to get to know your neighbours.

OYOxDesign’s main aim here was to evoke feelings of calmness, joy and, most importantly, home. With recognition from our guests and an organisation like Rethinking The Future, we know this goal has been met.
