We came across one such situation recently in Jaipur.

This week, the Rajasthan Cycling Association was organizing the National Cycling Championship in Jaipur and the city witnessed the arrival of national & international-level athletes to participate in the event.  When the Times of India highlighted the plight of the cyclists and the subpar living conditions provided to them, we consulted with the concerned authorities and offered to host them. It was a matter of great pride and honour for us to host the real heroes of our country.

Aditya Ghosh, CEO – India and South Asia, OYO Hotels and Homes, tweeted to the Sports Minister, Cycling Federation of India, Sports Authority of India and other authorities with the offer to host the athletes in OYO Hotels.

We are thankful to the authorities for accepting our request and making the Jaipur stay for our athletes nothing less than perfect. We welcomed more than 40 cyclists who received complimentary stays at OYO’s Flagship property. It was quite a turnaround for them-  from sleeping on mattresses on the floor in cold to checking into OYO Hotels’ standardized spacious, air-conditioned rooms which come with spotless linen, free WiFi, hygienic washrooms and skilled staff ensuring a hospitable environment for our special guests. The staff and others cheered when the cyclists entered and formally welcomed them with garlands.
