Bareilly is among the famous metro cities in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. The city is located on the banks of the Ramganga River and serves as the capital of Rohilkhand division. The famous city is also a furniture manufacturing centre, while also being known as a trading centre in cotton, grain, and sugar. Bareilly is also known as a counter-magnet city as its location is equidistant from Lucknow and New Delhi. The city, one of the biggest in Uttar Pradesh, has the potential to set up quite a number of industries. The city is home to a number of temples. Among the prominent temples, Hari Mandir, ISKCON Temple, Shri Bankey Bihari Temple, Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Shri Dauji Ka Mandir and Pashupati Nath Temple are famous in the area. There are also a number of mosques in the region, including the Dargah Ala Hazrat Imam Ahmed Raza Khan, Bibi ki Masjid, Jama Masjid and Dargah Hazrat Shah Sharafat Miyan. For the Sikhs on pilgrimage, there are gurdwaras present in the city. Some of the prominent ones include the Bada Gurudwara and Gurudwara Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib. There are a slew of parks and shopping malls in the buzzing city.
Bareilly is also known for its lush green cover. One can find the army cantonment, a number of educational and research institutions like the Rohilkhand University, Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) as well as the Central Avian Research Institute (CARI). Bareilly has quite a few interesting places to visit. The Khan Khaye Niyaziya Dargah or shrine is among the best tourist attractions. The dargah is beautifully carved with white marble and is visited by pilgrims throughout the year. The winter season is the best time to visit Bareilly, especially for nature enthusiasts who want to witness the city in all its green splendour. The winter months stretch from November till February. Visiting the city in summer may not be a good idea. The weather is hot and humid during the summer months, making it uncomfortable for tourists to embark on a sightseeing tour. A trip to Bareilly during the monsoon is also quite favourable. There is never a dearth of accommodation options in Bareilly. One can find a slew of budget and premium OYO Rooms in and around the temples and mosques in the city, including near Dhopeshwarnath Temple, Alaknath Temple and Dargah Aala Hazrat. There are OYO Rooms near Civil Lines and the bus station road, too.
