Christchurch- Ashburton- Fox Glacier- Haast- Queenstown- Dunedin- Mt Cook
Day 1 : Christchurch – Ashburton
Arrival in Christchurch – New Zealand’s second-largest city and the gateway to the South Island. Bordered by hills and the Pacific Ocean, it is situated on the edge of the Canterbury Plains that stretch to the Southern Alps. You’ll be met by our RLT tour representative and be transferred to your hotel in the scenic town of Ashburton (90 km from Christchurch) in the Canterbury Plains. Dinner at hotel. Overnight stay at Ashburton.
Day 2 : Ashburton – Fox Glacier
Today perhaps take a trip on the TranzAlpine Train (Optional) – crossing the marvellous Canterbury Plains and travelling up into the Southern Alps. It is a trip of a lifetime and is the best way to experience the captivating countryside. Then continue by coach along the coast and through rainforest to Westland National Park. Enjoy the sensational scenery, including Franz Josef Glacier. Overnight stay at Fox Glacier, a 13-km long glacier named thus in 1872 after a visit by the then Prime Minister of New Zealand, Sir William Fox.

Day 3: Fox Glacier – Haast – Queenstown
Travel through the snow-capped Southern Alps and Haast Pass. Crossing across through the shorelines of lakes Wanaka and Hawea reach the alpine resort of Queenstown on the banks of Lake Wakatipu. Here, you’ll enjoy the incredible backdrop of mountain scenery against the crystal clear lake. Delicious food and a great night out are always ready on the menu in Queenstown.

Day 4: Queenstown at Leisure
Wake up to the magnificent views of the mountain range and Lake Wakatipu. Today choose from the numerous activities Queenstown have to offer. Ask the RLT Tour Manager and he’ll make sure you have a crazy, most amazing day ahead!
Take a lake cruise on the TSS Earnslaw and tour Walter Peak Station
Enjoy a gondola ride to the top of Bob’s Peak for amazing views over Queenstown
Opt for some adventure sports
Day 5: Queenstown, Fiordland National Park, Te Anau
Today, follow on to the Fiordland National Park. Journey along Milford Road, known as one of the world’s most beautiful alpine drives, to Milford Sound. Step aboard a ship to cruise this beautiful fiord, viewing magical waterfalls, dense rainforest and towering mountains that surround this World Heritage Site. Overnight stay at Te Anau.
Day 6: Te Anau – Dunedin
Leave the beauty of Fiordland behind you and journey through the lovely Southland countryside to Dunedin. You’ll then enjoy a tour taking in the city’s most significant landmarks and learn of its rich history. Later, head to the nearby hills to take an intriguing tour of New Zealand’s only castle. Steeped in scandal and tragedy, filled with magnificent antiques and offering breathtaking views, Larnach Castle provides a memorable tour highlight. This evening, experience the full scale of Scottish influences on Dunedin. Sample Scotland’s signature dish, the haggis, listen to a tale, and maybe leave with a souvenir bottle of Scotch whisky. Overnight stay at Dunedin.
Day 7 : Lake Ohau
Journey along through the coast and witness the unusual Moeraki Boulders along the foreshore at Koekohe Beach. Afterwards, travel to Oamaru, known for its 19th century limestone architecture. Continue towards Lake Ohau, and enjoy a delicious High Country dinner overlooking the calming lake waters and mountain scenery. Overnight stay at Lake Ohau.
Day 8: Mt Cook – Lake Tekapo – Depart Christchurch
In the morning view Australasia’s highest peak, Mt Cook, then continue to the stunning Lake Tekapo and the marvellous Church of the Good Shepherd. Thereafter, travel across the Canterbury Plains towards Christchurch. This afternoon, your tour wraps up on the arrival at the airport. Bid goodbye to New Zealand and our RLT Tour Manager!!
