Auckland – Rotorua – Queenstown – Mt Cook – Christchurch
Day 1: “Kia Ora” Welcome to Auckland, New Zealand
Welcome to New Zealand. After clearing Customs & Immigration, receive your tour documents from our Roads Less Travelled tour representative and be transferred to your hotel. At your leisure, visit Auckland’s Sky Tower, from where you will get a 360 degrees panoramic view of Auckland City once you have ridden up the SkyTower lift. All the daredevils can stand on the glass floor panels and see the view down to street level. Overnight stay at Auckland.
Day 2: Auckland City Tour (incl Kelly Tarlton’s)
After breakfast, travel to the University, Auckland Harbour Bridge to North Shore for beautiful views of the harbor and yacht marina; travel to the summit of Mt Eden – this dormant volcano for wide views of the city; Paritai Drive – Auckland’s most expensive residential street with fantastic views of the Waitemata Harbour and finally Tamaki Water Front drive via Mission Bay. Visit to Kelly Tarlton’s Under Water World, Auckland’s most visited attraction. Walk through the life size reconstruction of Captain Scott’s Antarctic Hut as it was in 1911. Then it’s back to the present to board the Snow Cat vehicle for ride to the special Antarctic enclosure where you will see live King and Gentoo Penguins. Come face to face with giant stingrays, moray eels, thousands of different fish species and the sharks. All these creatures are only centimetres away in the unique underwater tunnel. Overnight stay at Auckland.
Day 3: Auckland – Rotorua (incl Waitomo Caves Tour)
Today, travel to Rotorua, around 220 km from Auckland, via Waitomo. Enjoy early breakfast before being collected by our RLT Tour Manager from your hotel and travel through horticultural farmland and lush dairy farms to Waitomo. Get a tour of the famous Waitomo Glow worm Caves having spectacular limestone formations and studded roof with the lights of thousands of tiny Glow worms. After the cave experience, continue via Lake Karapiro and breathtaking Fitzgerald Glade to arrive in Rotorua. Overnight stay at Rotorua.
Day 4: Rotorua’s Experiences
After enjoying your breakfast, board the coach from your hotel and enjoy 3 of Rotorua’s best attractions.
• Agrodome Sheep Show
During the show the audience will see nineteen sheep breeds onto the stage, learn about the art of sheep shearing, witness sheepdog demonstrations, cow milking, bottle feed lambs and an exciting sheep auction.
• Tour of Te Puia & Maori Arts & Crafts Institute
The Te Puia Thermal Reserve is known for the famous Pohutu Geyser which erupts 10 to 25 times each day to heights of 16 to 20 metres. The reserve is filled with boiling mud pools created by the extreme thinness of the earth’s crust in the area. Follow your experience with entry to the Maori Arts & Crafts Institute which preserves the remarkable heritage of Maori people.
• Rainbow Springs
Step inside Rainbow Springs Nature Park for a refreshing natural New Zealand experience. It is a combination of natural elements – the quiet majesty of the native bush, ferns, trees and plants, is a perfect way for rejuvenation.

Day 5: Rotorua – Christchurch
Enjoy breakfast before being collected from your hotel and get transferred to Rotorua Airport to catch your flight to Christchurch. Upon arriving at Christchurch Airport, you will be met a RLT tour Manager. He will hand over your tour documents and transfer you to your hotel. Overnight stay at Christchurch. Day is free for you to explore Christchurch & its multiple attractions at your own pace.
Day 6: Christchurch – Glaciers (incl Tranz Alpine Train)
After an early breakfast, travel to the Christchurch railway station, where you will board the Tranz Alpine Train for a four and a half hour long breathtaking ride till Greymouth. The Tranz Alpine train journey is a once in a lifetime experience. The award-winning train crosses the huge and fertile farmlands of the Canterbury Plains through spectacular river gorges and the stunning Waimakariri River valley, making the journey one of Top six scenic train journeys in the world. The highest point is 737 metres at the alpine village at Arthur’s Pass. From Arthur’s Pass to Greymouth the scenery is lush beech forest and tranquil Lake Brunner. After the train journey, board the coach to the Glaciers and begin your journey down the West Coast following lush, temperate rainforest between the Southern Alps and the rolling waves of the Tasman Sea. The village at Franz Josef Glacier is just five kilometres from the face of Franz Josef Glacier. Continue another 30 minutes to get to the small Alpine Village of Fox Glacier. Overnight stay at the Glaciers.

Day 7: Glacier Region – Queenstown
Today after breakfast continue the journey to the West Coast into the low density South Westland. Bid goodbye to the magnificent glacier from the coach. If luck’s on your side you will get clear views of Mount Cook in the background of Fox Glacier. Approaching Haast, you will witness the landscape change and after crossing Heritage Haast Pass- the highest road pass through the Southern Alps, you will experience a very different landscape of Central Otago with it’s sparkling lakes. Thereafter you travel down the Kawarau River Gorge to the ultimate adventure capital of New Zealand- Queensland. Overnight stay at Queenstown.
Day 8: Queenstown -Milford Sound & Fiordland inc Cruise – Queenstown
After a hearty breakfast, leave Queenstown with our RLT Manager and travel alongside Lake Wakatipu, through Kingston, Garston and Mossburn before reaching Te Anau. From Te Anau, follow the shores of Lake Te Anau before entering Fiordland National Park which is spread over 1.2 million hectares. Board the catamaran and start a 1.5 hour cruise out to the Tasman Sea and witness superb views of towering peaks, close ups of the cool mists of tall waterfalls, as well as southern fur seals and the spectacular Mitre Peak. Returning to Milford Wharf, reboard your coach for your return journey to Queenstown which will be arriving around 7.30pm. Overnight stay at Queenstown.
Day 9: Queenstown
Day is at leisure. After your breakfast, you have thrilling options to enjoy numerous fun adventure activities or sightseeing trips available in Queenstown. Ask our RLT Manager for some crazy adventures. Overnight stay at Queenstown.

Day 10: Queenstown – Mt Cook Village – Christchurch
Enjoy your breakfast, before boarding the coach to Christchurch. The Mount Cook Wander starts from Queenstown with a short trip to the Kawarau River Gorge into Lindis Pass and over the MacKenzie Basin to Mount Cook National Park. During your stop at Mount Cook you will get an opportunity for an optional scenic flight or lunch at The Hermitage. Leaving Mount Cook, return to Lake Pukaki and merge into main highway. Continuing your journey, make a brief stop to see the “Church of the Good Shepherd” and the bronze “Collie Dog” statue signifying the rural history of the area. Thereafter drive through the Canterbury Plains, the largest area of flat land in New Zealand. Overnight stay at Christchurch.
