South Andaman Island/Port Blair Dive Sites

Cinque Island:
Has 2 diving spots at North Point and South Reef and its pristine emerald water (visibility of up to 80 ft) makes it the best place to dive on the island.

Bala Reef:
Spreading over 4 kms this diving spot is the second most places to dive in.

Fish Rock:
located near Passage Island, this place consists of rocky slopes, boulders and drop-offs, featuring large fan of corals and plenty of sponges.

Corruption Rock: Located between ‘Chidiyatapu’ and Rutland Island, this dive site is famous for its big underwater boulders. The corals may not be brilliant but the uneven and rugged undersea landscape is spectacular. A bizarre utopia of gullies, channels, ridges and canyons!

Rutland Island:
this spot is great for training in open shallow waters.

Havelock Island Dive Sites

While there are many unexplored dive sites on Havelock Island, these are the best ones to choose from:

Mac Point: Mostly hard corals and their inhabitants are found. With good visibility you may be able to spot dugongs.

Aquarium: is a fringing reef with lots of ‘fish-traffic’. Usually good visibility hard corals are found here.

Barracuda City: Suitable for experienced divers, this sight has tons of fish and hard corals.

Turtle Bay: This is an easy pleasant dive site not exceeding 14 meters. Perfect for first timers!

Seduction Point:
A huge rock with different kind of aquatic life.

The Wall
is a huge submerged rock. The Wall drops down to a maximum of 55 meters and is full of life. Huge forests of soft corals and schools of fish circling you, makes it a memorable dive.

Pilot Reef
near Havelock is a huge block of pristine hard corals. At the bottom (max 24 meters) ‘canyons’ are stretching out. lookforimageLeopard and Whitetip Sharks have been sighted.

Minerva Ledge
at Havelock is a large plateau showcasing amazing corals. You need more than one dive to see this place!

Campbell Shoal off North Button Island

ScubaMahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, Wandoor:

 But remember, with each new experience comes caution so witness the exotic marine life but follow some ground rules for better and safer diving experience.

Important Tips for Safe Diving.

  • Dive only in the areas permitted by the Andaman and Nicobar Authorities
  • Do not dive with unauthorized or unqualified dive operators.
  • Opt for International trained scuba divers and organisations such as PADI, CMAS, NAUI, BSAC and SSI for safe diving experience. More details may be obtained by
  • Take a short diving course and buddy up with an experienced diver. The Dive centre staff should brief you before the dive.
  • Get familiarized with the diving equipment before you dive. Make sure the dive center explains all safety guidelines.
  • Solitary diving is not allowed.
  • Discuss your dive plan before diving and decide the spots you want to visit
  • Wear proper suit for the kind of diving you want to proceed with.
  • Descend feet first and stay close to your instructor and dive partner
  • Check your air pressure gauge
  • Communicate during the dive by rapping on the oxygen tank or making hand gestures
  • Signal your buddy and instructor in-case of any emergencies
  • Do not dive in-case you are fatigued, sick or injured
  • Know your limits and watch out for the signs of overexertion.
