We booked a sea view room and it was just lovely...if only we could have seen the sea through the rain! On a clearer day, the view stretches across to the island and the entire beach. Being right on the esplanade made it super convenient to access the beach just across the road. It’s an easy 10-minute stroll into the town center, making it a great spot for exploring. The hotel’s downstairs area has recently been refurbished, with lots of new and beautiful furniture and fittings in the bar and restaurant. However, our room could really use a bit of a refresh. Yes, it’s an old Victorian building with charming slanting floors and traditional sash windows, which is to be expected, but the decor (like the paint) and furniture such as the wardrobes, drawers, and bed could definitely benefit from an upgrade. A little TLC and a fresh coat of paint would do wonders. The room wasn’t cleaned as thoroughly as we’d hoped; we found some dust on the ledges and even a milk portion from the tea tray left on the windowsill. The bathroom was nice, featuring a bath with an over-bath shower, which was a lovely bonus. We didn’t have breakfast or dine at the hotel, so I can’t comment on that. Parking is quite limited at the hotel, which might mean you could get blocked in (though that’s fine if you’re not using the car), so if you miss a spot, you may have to park a bit further away depending on other guests.

The location was fantastic, just a quick two-minute stroll from the car park. We stayed in the Red Room, and the view was absolutely breathtaking - I can't imagine a better one from anywhere else on the street. On our last day, we enjoyed breakfast, which was simple but included both cooked options and cereals. It was beautifully arranged, well-prepared, and the dining room, though a bit dim, was charming and inviting. Our room was just right for us; we prefer a more classic style rather than ultra-modern decor, and it suited us perfectly. While the bed and fixtures were lovely, the general furniture was somewhat basic, yet it provided enough storage for our needs. The cleanliness was outstanding, from the reception area to our room, and the decor was delightful, especially the lovely fairy lights that matched the building's character. We felt completely at home during our stay, and we were always greeted warmly by the staff whenever we passed by. The only quirky aspect was ‘the crimson lady’ in our room - she gave me a little chill, but my husband found it quite entertaining as he kept an eye out for her while we settled in for the night!
