My husband and I spent 4 nights here. We paid for 5 nights but left a day early. This was our first stay here. We loved the location. The beach area in front of the hotel is nice and not overrun by too many people. The beach access was next to the lobby and easy to get to. The barking dogs at 6am was a bit obnoxious but to be expected at a pet friendly hotel. It was nice to have an elevator. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had some issues with the key card not working properly which was a bit frustrating. The room was not what we were expecting. It was very clean and had a nice view. The ceiling fan was nice and circulated the air very well. The furniture was very run down and really needs replaced. We moved the table and the leg almost fell off. Moved a chair with wheels and a wheel fell off. The chairs were extremely uncomfortable and the fabric was stained. The couch was very uncomfortable and stained as well. The tables were stained and scratched up. The beds were very firm but reasonably comfortable. They did keep sliding off the edge of the frame though. The sliding glass door was pretty dirty/streaky and the screen door had a big hole in it. The lamps were funky to turn off and on. The TV was not working when we got there but it was fixed the same day. The refrigerator was nice and cold and kept everything cold during our stay. The real glassware was a nice touch instead of plastic. We don't drink coffee so not sure about the coffee maker. It would have been nice to have some tea bags along with the coffee bags. The sinks drained very slowly. The toilet seat looked like it has never been replaced and not very sanitary looking. The bathtub drain would not stay open so the water backed up during showers. The shower head was adjustable but the pressure was not very strong making it difficult to rinse long hair. The towels and linens were all clean and smelled fresh. The light on the balcony was terribly bright and ruined our nighttime view. It came on automatically around 8pm and turned off anytime between 10pm and midnight. I would recommend staying on the top floor as it was a bit noisy above us. The people next to us were pretty loud as well. The doors slam shut if you don't hold on to it while closing it and we heard a lot of door slamming. All in all, it was a decent stay for the price. In it's glory days, I believe this was a nice hotel, but now it's just decent. Comfortable furniture would be a huge improvement especially for those that like extended stays.
Service was good. Only problem, which I'm still trying to figure out was the discount (AAA or AARP either) refusal. I did my reservations on the website. I am hearing impaired and can only do business by internet contact. There was no space to enter my reservation inform. When we got to check-in I asked the clerk and was told "Oh, no we'll only acknowledge discounts over the phone." WHAT!?! I then asked the clerk to just enter in our discount information on premises. She wouldn't do that either saying "Oh, you can't enter discount information after the reservation was made!" So what? Deaf people are not allowed to use their discount information at your location? Not encouraging customers to use the service there. :( J.L. Hurlburt
